good dimming but no protection

I have used on 4X 40W bulbs and worked well. Strangely the bulbs expired very fast. I do not know if they dimmer caused it but very suspicious on the dimmer.
I have found some small bulbs, they were 1W non-dimmable LED. I have installed these on the lamp and the dimmer shorted out right away. I plugged lamp up to the other dimmer and did the same. So, if you use non-dimmable bulbs be aware. The dimmer does not have a protection. It just fries out. A proper dimmer has protection for non-dimmable bulbs. Also, if you plug it to a higher wattage unit, it will fry right away. Otherwise it’s a good dimmer as long you keep to the instruction manual. Its good quality, good value (cheap) and does the job what you need it for.

Feels well made and robust

Doesn't look as modern or stylish as the similarly priced alternative (I have one of each so can compare side by side), but feels solid and better put together. Handy little gadget

I make and sell lighting products and always found it a struggle to photograph lamps with the bulb switched on as my camera darkens the rest of the picture to compensate for the brightness,
With this dimmer I can turn down the bulb until the camera likes it then click and the job is done,
Though I have not used it for long periods it has been used and adjusted many times and I have not had a problem with it,

Mains socket plug in dimmer

Works as it says on the box. This is the second switch I've bought as the first one stopped working when a bulb blew that was plugged into it. After getting the second one I took the old one apart and found a soldered in fuse inside which I replaced and got it working again. This fuse is not meant to be changed by the public as the dimmer case has anti - tamper screws in it and the fuse was soldered in. Why not fit the fuse to be able to be changed by the public.Read full review

Pretty much useless

This dimmer switch is almost useless as you can only use it at either very low light levels or at full brightness. Anything in between these levels flickers horribly and is useless. I wouldn’t recommend this brand or buy again given my experience. Read full review

It does dim a little but not much, it starts dimming on a quarter turn on the dimmer switch but turning the dimmer switch the rest of the way makes no difference to dimming the lamp so the lamp is still very bright not achieving what I wanted. Dims my standard lamp

Works quite well. A bit lumpy but i set it and control the lamp with another remote controller. So light level is set and rarely adjusted. Not many other options out there for the price.
