The Grooviest Dynamic Supercardioid Vocal Microphone Ever Made At Any Price Point.
The Grooviest Dynamic Supercardioid Vocal Microphone Ever Made At Any Price Point. When Electro-Voice discontinued this whole series, they shot themselves in the foot. All of the new "Replacements" really belong in Wal-Mart. If you don't know jack squat about mics and how to use them, then listen up. Every TYPE of mic has a specific way it NEEDS to be used or it will seem to suck when it's really just you using it wrong. These (and the nasty Shure SM series) etc. are meant to be used with your mouth a 1/2" OR LESS away from the mic. A lip or 2 on the screen, even better. No standing back from them for ANY REASON. Pulling the mic away from you because you are going in for the BIG NOTES........not on your life. That is goofy junk that chicks on TV try to get away with.....but LIVE, they are forced to use a TOTALLY different type of mic.
Ok, I have a couple hundred of these mics now since they stopped making them. Buy low and sell stupidly high....and they are worth "stupidly high". Now that you know how to use a vocal mic....you'll never experience feedback again unless you go back to your old, bad habits. The proximity effect (getting inside that mic and hitting those ultra low notes or crazy quiet notes or subtle growls etc.....NO OTHER MIC IN THE WORLD will make that stuff pop out like the N/D767a. Do yourself a favor, sell every vocal mic you GUYS have and replace them with these. Grab one, test it CORRECTLY....plug in your favorite mic, do your thing, unplug it, plug this in the same cable and hang on to your britches. You'll have all your other mics up for sale before you even finish one verse. If you buy one and hate it, I'll buy it. That's a guarantee.Read full review

I like these mics just not this one
I like the EV N/D767a in general, they are a great sounding vocal mic but this particular one not so much. I knew it was in rough shape from the picture but it was far worse than I imagined, it sounds okay but it's falling apart the XLR connector doesn't even stay in place it falls out of the end of the mic. Lives up to it's reputation
About a year ago I got turned on to live performance condenser mikes and purchased the audio technica at2010 and later upgraded to the at3300 and never looked back. The subtlety, clarity and sensitivity took a little getting used to but it was well worth the effort. They do take more control and I have become a better vocalist using these mics. The nuance and vocal detail are unsurpassed. I don't always have access to phantom power so the prospect of having a dynamic mic with the same characteristics was very appealing. I saw an add for the N/D767a, read the reviews and at a street price of $79.00 I couldn't resist giving it a try. I was not disappointed! Like the audio technicas it takes some getting used to. The pronounced proximity effect and extremely narrow pick up pattern take some practice to get the most out of the mic. I do some live recording in a 20x15ft room with 12ft ceilings with no sound dampening so the room is very live and there is a fair amount of ambient noise that gets picked up by my condenser mics. This mic does not pick this up resulting in much clearer vocals in the recording and performing and really does "cut through" I put it on a par with my at3300 and recently have been using it exclusively. It's a very unique mic and I love exploring it's capabilitiesRead full review

Absolute best, most responsive, vocal microphone EVER.
I have tried every good vocal microphone out there, including the expensive Neumanns, Telefunkens, newer Electrovoice mics, and more. Even though this is a "cheap" microphone, it sounds the best every time, even over the high end stuff.
The few other vocalists that I have run into that use this mic agree with me - once you've used this one, all other vocal mics (Shure SM58, etc...) sound like garbage compared to the N/D767.
Unfortunately, the new model, the ND76 doesn't sound quite as good as the older model. It comes close, but the supercardioid pattern of the N/D767 allows for much greater power and responsiveness on stage than the regular cardioid pattern on the ND76.
If you are looking for the best live vocal microphone, you don't need to spend $500 on a neumann, but you will need to act fast to get one of these older models before they stop coming up for sale.Read full review

Good live vocal microphone - great bang for the buck. Compares to Shure Beta 58
This is my new favorite live vocal mic. It's comparable to a Shure Beta 58 & it's quite a bit less expensive.
It's high-end is similar but not as brittle or exaggerated as the beta 58. The low-end is nice on the EV 767, it seems to have a little more controlled bottom-end than the beta 58, possibly due to a little less proximity-effect.Read full review

Great quality and value
Quality and clarity are most important to me and this microphone has exactly that. This microphone captures the highs and lows of the voice to give the vocal range real substance.

Best Sounding Microphone for the money
We use the EV N/D767 microphones for vocals in bands. They are brighter than most comparable mics. They seem to be durable too as they get dropped from time to time and still work fine. We have used most brands of mics over the years, but have settled on the EV as the one we use.Read full review
