I purchased this for my very inquisitive, "mechanic minded" Grandson's 8th birthday. He has literally spent hours with this set....creating the projects in the book plus projects of his own. I took him and his brothers home from school one day and by the time I got to the house, he was already playing with it.

"Build circuits that work."

This is one of the best hands-on electronic toys made. Kids love to build things that work and make sounds or flashing lights. The circuits are easily described with easily followed pictures. There could be more explanation of the electronic theory involved but Elenco has decided to keep it simple at this stage. The use of snaps mounted on rigid wire, instead of stripped wire in a breadboard, does much to guarantee that each project works the first time. A first grader would have fun with this kit.
