Perhaps the most original and inventive and intelligent "Situation Comedy" of the last 20 years.
The theme is incredibly well worked out and it's developed with enormous skill. The satirical comedy is achingly funny and the characters exceptionally well defined and executed by a superlative cast of British and American artists. It's brilliantly scripted - with, I suspect, a lot of help from the cast. Though sometimes outrageous, even verging on the improbable, the plots are wonderfully woven together and made extraordinarily convincing because of the writing, direction and performances. There should be more of this than just one last series. It's a memorable gem and it's a pity that Matt le Blanc is now presenting Top Gear - he has a great range, a most engagingly naughty personality and an exceptional comic skill. He should be doing more of this kind of drama.Read full review
