Brilliant tool for small projects !

For this price you can not go wrong. Immediately starts and stops. Feels very solid. Cable is a bit annoying but I did get used to it. Not recommended for trades man but for DIYer it is a perfect tool.Read full review

Evolution HULK

Very poor compaction , it doesn't seem to pull it's self along very well at all , I thought it would be a nice lightweight compactor for small jobs or little footpaths etc, where there's only foot traffic and no vehicles but I still had to go over with my petrol waker as this is nowhere near man enough to do a proper job! Very poor indeed, I wish I hadn't wasted over £200.00 on it £50/£60.00 is nearer to what it should be priced at!!Read full review

Great machine if you just remember it's limitations

After reading several reviews about this machine I took the plunge. Yes, the knobs on the handle can come loose, but it's a simple matter to check them every so often. I also found it helped by wrapping some duck tape around them. I don't consider it a big deal. There were also a couple of comments regarding the sturdiness of the switch housing. So far I have had no indication of any problem, but again, if I do I'm sure another round of duck tape will suffice. The key is to remember that this is a lightweight machine and is not designed for heavy work. With that in mind I find it totally adequate for my needs constructing the occasional patio and paths. Just one gripe for me. This machine does not work backwards. It dig sin if you try it. You need to lift the back of the machine and drag it back. I feel sure this could have been addressed if Evolution had simply provided as much curvature on the back of the base plate as there is on the front. As it is though, it's a thoroughly reliable machine as long as you remember it's limitations. I would certainly recommend it. Worth every penny.Read full review

Versatile, Eficient & Compact

This was a bit too lightweight for my patio base but spending a bit longer than anticipated easily obtained the desired result. I was able to increase the weight slightly for those stubborn patches. I found the possible `White-Finger` risk was not a problem perhaps due to the handle design and the fact that that the machine is well made and lightweight. I found it really useful even for levelling the lawn in places instead of the heavy garden roller. . .Read full review

Perfect for small works block paving

The Evolution Hulk Electro is a great piece of kit for small block paving jobs, I use it primarily for compacting the sharp sand sub base. Also for the final compaction of the pavers but I also purchased the optional rubber base which prevents damaging and scratching the blocks. For compaction of hardcore I would still recommend using a more robust petrol version but for small jobs where air quality and noise pollution could be an issue it's a great bit of kit.Read full review

Great machine for price, did my driveway no problem, cheaper to buy than hire and can use when I want.

Good little item

Was great for the job i needed. Useful and speeded the job up. Only downside vibration causes tightening screws to come lose and fall out

Fell apart, then stopped working within 10 minutes

The vibration plate is too powerful for the simple handle extension screws, which work themselves loose easily within a minute. After rescrewing them a couple of dozen times, the actual plate simply packed in - emitting just a faint humm.

I think the adage is correct - you get what you pay for.
