Exotica--Atom Egoyan
Pretty mediocre, if you ask me. I don't recommend. Full disclosure: this is the first film by this director I've seen. However, I went in with the highest hopes and I wanted to see this one because I'd read that it was one of his top efforts. That doesn't speak too well for his lesser efforts. It's a psycho-sexual whodunit about alienated, victimized characters in the modern world, but you never find out who actually done it. Once you strip away the time shifting narrative and the opaque dialogue, what you basically have is a movie about people who use each other. But I found the biggest problem with the film to be the non-development of the characters. They aren't characters, but character types. If you like modern allegories set in strip clubs, this might be your thing. It wasn't mine. From what I've read, there's a serious division of opinion on this film between those who love and those who hate it. I didn't hate it because there's always something good to be gotten from any film, but it was all just too emotionally detached for me. The ironic part of that is that the film deals with such emotionally loaded subjects.Read full review...
very explicit
I personally would prefer to have more "story line" than "displays of skin" , if a buyer likes explicit nudity, they will like this movie.
