this is all you need

excellent little tool as long as you treat it with respect and don't go trying to split medium or large logs with it .It was designed for kindling and as long as you remember that and pick out straight grained small logs and avoid anything with large knots or twisted grain it is a perfect inexpensive tool for very little money compared to some of the overpriced and in some instances not so good tools out there---very pleased with this and coupled with a large rubber mallet works great---don't hit it with a hammer for obvious reasons*****Read full review...

Like It, Appreciate Getting It, WILL USE IT IN ANGER FOR IT'S INTENDED PUPOSE ONLY!

It's Good Quality, I'm Well Enough Pleased With It Too, & It Will Certainly Do What I Intend To Use It & Bought It For! I'd buy It Again, Without Question But, In My Mind's Eye I Could Never Look At "A Stick Chopper" & Think "I'm Amazed Out Of My Underpants With This Chopper!" (PUN NOT INTENDED) So, Please Forgive Me For Not Using The Word "AMAZING" FOR SUCH A PRODUCT! Please Accept That I'm Very Happy With It & I Consider That My Comments Reflect That Too! "Have A Nice Day!" Starcycle69. 02-11-2018.Read full review...

Excellent does the job

I have been watching a lot of Survivalists and Preppers on YouTube some carry saws, knives and axes. I have been chopping wood since I was knee high to a grasshopper and the most valuable tool is the "Stick Knife", "Shingle Froe" or "Kindle Knife" which can be bashed (battoned) with an axe, hatchet or hammer to cut your sticks. I do not possess a big knife and don't need one, I am not impressed by men who carry big knives. I think they are carried by men who have diminished testosterone or a tiny phallus or both. This product is ideal for the job of chopping kindling it's just the right weight to use and it's very well made with the handle being riveted on at the end making it very safe and solid and easy to use I would strongly recommend this productRead full review...

Essential tool for open fires and log burners

Whilst an axe is good for general splitting of wood, if you need kindling, you want something more precise. This is just the job. Can split your pieces into fine strips with ease. Only really effective on straight grain wood, it really struggles to cut through knots, but they can be difficult even with an axe. Best just to pick straight grain wood for kindling and burn the rest as logs.
Much easier to use than these fancy kindling splitters. This is my second one, my original one needs sharpening after 2 years of heavy use and I can’t get to the grind stone at present. My only heating is an open fire, so I get through a lot of kindling.
Please note these are fairly sharp, so use a bit of wood not your finger to hold the piece you are splitting. Seems, obvious right, but I was in A&E when someone came in with a badly injured finger, and I couldn’t help overhear how it was done.

Okay but not great

The weight is nice, the handle too. The blade isn't as sharp as I'd want it and I struggle to see it replace my trusty hatchet. It's okay I guess and decent value for the money but if you chop a lot of wood, maybe get yourself a decent hatchet instead.Read full review...

Good wuality

My mum actually wanted this for Mother's Day! We used it to chop old tree branches from a few dead trees at the back of her garden! Worked a treat! Really good weight to it! Highly recommended

Kindling axe.

A good little axe for splitting small pieces of wood for kindling.
Quality finish isn’t the best though, and I had spend a good hour fettling it to get the burrs off it and sharpen up.
