An incredible compilation of old songs and favorites. They are arranged alphabetically as well as by the decade the song came out. The melody line is given along with the guitar/piano chords. It is easy to read. There are songs in it which I would have had a difficult time finding otherwise. I have used my book a lot to write the trombone melody for a number of songs in the book. The Ultimate Fake Book - had a few markings

On the whole, the fake book was in excellent condition, but did have a few markings on several pages, all chord changes. (These markings were in keeping with the description of the book, so I give it an 'excellent' rating despite my mild disappointment.) About a half dozen songs had pencil markings, which were easy to erase. Two, however, had ink changes, necessitating a laborious session with white out, which was successful. the cover, and condition of the pages, was pristine - looked brand new.

For those who own song books, my recommendation would be to use one (pencil) line to cross out the old chord, and neatly write in the chord change next to it. Scribbling cross-outs in pen and writing in new chords at odd-ball angles makes 'correcting' these at a future date difficult, and detracts from the books resale value.Read full review...

It is not an easy fake book

I know it isn't advertised as such. But songs are written in multiple keys. Songs are very small print and it is fine if you can photocopy and enlarge. Otherwise wear good glasses. But an exceptional song selection. Some real gems.Read full review...

They Could Have Printed The Chord Thingees For Guitar

I was disappointed that as a beginner at guitar I have to look up the chord in the back of the book in order to know how to play it. It would have been so much easier if they had shown the chord images (dots and lines) with the music instead of forcing me to flip back and forth, back and forth... Then again perhaps this would cause a beginner like me to learn faster, except I am lazy and am loosing interest now.
