I love SF movies. I often search for bargains all over the world and this one was verry cheap.Including shipment it was still much cheaper than in Holland.

"It's clobberin' time!"

I have been a collector of Marvel Comics since the age of about ten - my favourite superheroes being the X-Men. But despite my fondness for mutants, it was the Fantastic Four who first drew me into the world of super powered beings and I have always held a high regard for the family oriented super team. However, after hearing of a new Fantastic Four movie in the offing, I was a little worried, to say the least. After all, one F.F. movie had already gone the way of the dodo. However, the success of two X-Men movies gave me heart and I awaited the new F.F. movie with anticipation.

And so to the movie itself. Okay, it has its faults - what movie doesn't? - but these are all relatively minor. Of course, the F.F's origin had to change - building a rocket and persuading your closest friends to help fly it just wouldn't fit with today's audiences. Reed seems a bit younger than his comic book counterpart, Johnny a bit older, and Ben should probably look a bit rockier, but these are just minor grievances compared to the movie's good points. Julian McMahon looks awesome as Victor Von Doom, exuding a quiet menace and almost acting everyone else off the screen. The bickering between Ben and Johnny is spot on and harks back to the early days of the comic book F.F. Comic buffs should be well pleased with the scene involving Ben, Johnny, a feather duster and a handful of shaving cream! A true laugh out loud moment!

But, for me, the best part of this movie is actually seeing the F.F. in action. The special effects are amazing here, truly bringing the Four's unique powers to life. As a longstanding fan, what a rush it is to see the Torch flame on and blaze across the sky! I would have liked to see the team using their powers more, but hopefully this will be rectified in the up and coming sequel.

I am sure this movie won't appeal to everyone, but comic fans should be well pleased with the finished result, as the movie really has tried to capture the spirit and feel of the comic book team. I am looking forward now to the sequel. It will be interesting to see what can be done when there is no setting up of the main characters to be done. All the groundwork has been done in the first movie, so maybe more action will be in the offing, with a quick introduction of the main villain. Galactus, anyone?! Now that will be a sight to see!!

FANTASTIC FOUR

The first time I saw this film I would have only labelled this as average, but when i saw it again last week I simply loved it. Great fight scenes and great special effects.

Watch this when you get a chance.

Plot -
When an experimental space voyage goes awry, four people are changed by cosmic rays. Reed Richards, inventor and leader of the group gains the ability to stretch his body, and takes the name, Mr. Fantastic. His girlfriend, Sue Storm, gains the ability to turn invisible and create force fields, calling herself the Invisible Woman. Her younger brother Johnny Storm gains the ability to control fire, including covering his own body with flame, becoming the Human Torch. Pilot Ben Grimm is turned into a super-strong rock creature calling himself Thing. Together, they use their unique powers to explore the strange aspects of the world, and to foil the evil plans of Doctor Doom.

Fantastic Four

If you have been looking for an exciting movie, Fantastic Four is perfect for you. This movie has great special effects and loyalty to the comic book. This is an awesome film for everyone that is an old Fantastic Four fan and even for today's generation.

Volunteering for a voyage to an orbiting space station, four scientists are changed by cosmic rays. Johnny Storm, played by Chris Evans, creates and controls fire. Ben Grimm, played by Michael Chiklis, turns into an incredibly strong...thing! Dr. Reed Richards, played by Ioan Gruffudd, gets the ability to stretch his body. Sue Storm, portrayed by Jessica Alba, becomes invisible and can generate force fields.

Before leaving Earth, Dr. Richards approaches Victor Doom, played by Julian McMahon, with a business proposition involving research on genetics and finding a cure for a wide variety of diseases. They agree to use Doom's hovering space station to observe a unique space storm that contains the building blocks of life. Everything seems routine until the storm picks up speed and hits the station far ahead of schedule.

All at once, everyone on the space station is affected, though none of them are aware of it...until the genetic changes begin to happen.

Together, the "Fantastic Four", as named by the press, must intervene in the evil plans of Doom, a tycoon billionaire businessman. Being aboard the space station with the other four, Doom also changes gaining an invincible metal alloy body that absorbs and controls electricity.

Then it really gets complicated. Sue Storm and Reed Richards join forces to find a cure for their "special powers" and yet somehow, have to get past their old personal conflict. These two extremely intelligent scientists once were in love and had a painful end to their relationship. Now, suddenly reunited, they try to be professional with each other in order to figure out a way to change their bodies back to the way they used to be.

Ben Grimm really gets the short end of the stick. He has the most changes to deal with since his total appearance is altered to a walking huge hulk of living rocks. Even though he has a heart of gold, his girlfriend rejects him immediately, frightened by his new body. Ben Grimm endures even more humiliation when the press gives him the name, "The Thing". He cannot even use an elevator because his weight exceeds the limit of what elevators can handle, over two thousand pounds.

The movie grows more intense as Doom grows in his abilities and ambitions for power. Like his personality, he remains cold to human suffering, caring only for what he can use and control.

After being threatened directly by Doom, all four heroes, Reed Richards, Ben Grimm, Sue and Johnny Storm must band together to stop Doom from destroying the city and killing millions of innocent people.

Fantastic Four - 1 Disc vesion

An entertaining movie that does not take itself too seriously, gives a nice introduction to the characters, leaves you wanting more.

Special effects were good, especially the Human Torch ‘Flame On’ scenes

Plot summary:

Five astronauts are bombarded by cosmic rays, though initially they seem un-affected, on return to Earth they all start to display unique powers.

Four of the astronauts team up to try to find a solution to their changes, the fifth Victor Von Doom (Julian McMahon) whose company funded the space voyage comes under pressure from his board of directors and as his powers manifest themselves he uses powers to eliminate his enemies.

With each abuse of his power it leads to the ultimate climax a fight with the other four effected astronauts.

Has some nice extras, if you want more try the 2 disc version

Buy it for the kids otherwise stick to X-men/Watchmen etc.

Not too bad - better than it's sequel
It is a kids film though rather than for fans of X-men/Watchmen etc. from that POV it's probably pretty good - When I was a kid I went to see Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and thought it was amazing... nowadays...not so!! and it's a bit like that really! There's a few chortles along the way and some semi-decent action but has an altogether patriotic American feel.
Unless you've got kids save your money or be prepared to re-sell on ebay!!

Good entertainment !

I loved this film! Anyone who remembers the Fantastic Four from their childhood many years ago or any of the new generation can relate to this film !
The start of it is a little slow, but bear with it, it doesn't last and when you're into the film it is worth the wait! It is action packed and got a good story line. The special effects were great and what you would expect from a 32st century movie! I thought it would be mainly a 'boys' movie, but was pleasantly surprised that it was a film for all the family and for all ages.
This is a must see film, whether you want to see Fantastic Four 2 (follow up) or not!
