Fatal Frame III - Yes Please

I'm still in the process of playing through the 3rd one for the first time, played and finished FF I and FF II over ten times combined.

There's a lot of stuff pulled from the first games on this one, revisiting the hall of ropes and ambient music that those who played earlier releases will remember. I'm playing this one on a thick style PS/3 and for the most part it works okay. Doors and certain objects have a strange color to them and some doors are semi transparent but that's a PS3 playing a PS2 game compatability problem, not an issue with the game itself.

The scary feeling you get from the previous games is preserved here as well, new ghosts with new attack patterns, some quite tricky. Camera has new upgrades available for it and you end up upgrading more than one camera in a way as well. Never thought re-living the nightmare could be so good

Fatal Frame 3 is a nice addition to the Fatal Frame (Project Zero) series of games. Though they are all related, Fatal Frame 3 manages to bring them all together in an interesting way. As always, the characters and events are all very well thought out. In Fatal Frame 3 you are able to play as multiple characters in different parts of the game. This new feature makes game play more challenging in a good way (for the most part). Controls are easy to learn, you can probably get by with a copy missing it's instruction manual if you are familiar with other Fatal Frame games or play video games a lot. Graphics are incredible and the dub is fine. This is not the scariest of the series, but because of it's differences from 1 and 2 you'll be frightened by different things. The ending is wonderful... but I'm not going to spoil it for you!

Should definitely be purchased for your playing pleasure! I suppose it's fun alone, but it's also fun to play as a group and scare everyone! In-store prices (IF you can find it, very rare in actual stores) are at $50.

General Info:
Fatal Frame games are horror/survival games with gruesome images. They should not be played by or in front of young children and are rated appropriately. This aside, they are not the gore filled games you usually find concerning horror. They truly do scare you in that traditional Japanese way that sneaks up on you slowly. fatal frame trilogy worth every cent....

This trilogy by far, is one of the most interesting games I have every been involved with. Once you pick up the controller for the first time you will be hooked. It's like reading a good book, you just keep telling yourself,"one more page" and keep playing and playing looking for the next supernatural event. These games are best played in a dark room surround sound is a must. If you don't have surround sound you are only getting about half the enjoyment out of it. the directors and editors spent just as much time on the soundtrack and digital sounds as it did on the explicit graphics. This is the only video game that has really had my heart racing, as if i were actually the one being chased or tormented in the game. At first, I was a little skeptical about having only a camera for a weapon against the hoards of demons and ghosts, but this proved to be a challenge and well worth it. The cinematography was a first for me as well. walking down a hallway and the shot is like you would see in a movie, not a video game. and a demon appears in the rafters and your character it totally unaware. I really loved this game set. all three editions and collected them all. This is a great game to own not only for the gameplay, but its one of the few games that are actually ascending in price (more valuable). This is defiantly a keeper. Asian horror is becoming more prevelant in the U.S....

...And it thrills us! The Ring, The Grudge and now Fatal Frame are great examples of the bone-chilling horror stories that keep us glued to our sofas. Fatal Frame in particular is wonderful in that you are playing out the story yourself.

The game develops in an incredible way; You begin as Rei, a photographer, who visits a house which is supposed to be haunted. Afterwards, she starts having strange dreams about the house. Soon the line between the dream world and real life is blurred as hands appear reaching for her in her bathroom mirror, or an arm reaches out from under the bed.

The graphics are beautiful. The characters look life-like, and you'd swear there was a real ghost in your living room. The sounds are spooky and get your heart beating as a crescendo of moans and screams blast through your speakers.

I highly recommend playing Fatal Frame - The Tormented. It may be a difficult item to find, since it is out of print, but it is well worth the price. If possible, play the first two Fatal Frames in the series as well (Fatal Frame and Fatal Frame - The Crimson Butterfly), since they all connect and are wrapped up with this installation.

But even if you've never played a Fatal Frame game before, play this one for sure, and experience a true horror story.Read full review...

Amazing Game! Constant Suspense

After hearing from a friend about this hidden gem, I bought it for a couple bucks, brand new. The game itself plays great, offering many options in camera angle, button layout, etc. The main thing I was trying to attain from this game was fear. I wanted a game that would sit on my shelf and take my heavy thought to finally decide to play. This game IS scary, but not what you'd expect. Here's what I mean - Games like Fear or Doom or such are scary because you have hideous abominations or such jumping around and popping out of nowhere. They're scary because they're ugly and agile. Fatal Frame is a bit different. Somehow, (Probably a combo between the music, lighting, and layout), the game manages to immerse yourself in there. The ghosts aren't appalling or anything like that, but when you play at night and the suspense starts building, petite Oriental girls will make you scream like one. The only thing restraining me from rating this 5/5 is because of the lack of diversity in the enemy types. There are probably 15 different types of ghosts in the game and you can't help but wish there were more. Nonetheless, this game is something to add to your collection if you're looking for the unsung hero of thrillers. More suspense than horror, this game is worth looking into and playing with a friend or two on a solemn weekend night in the dark. Best in the Fatal Frame trilogy

Fatal Frame 3, probably the best in the series. If you are new to this series, it's about a girl hunting down ghosts with a camera.

Let's talk about the game play. This time, you can control more than one character in different chapters. Camera controls are almost the same, accept they added some new functions, which makes the ghosting busting job more fun than ever. What's so fun this time, is you can switch between reality and dream world. It's actually like what they did in Silent Hill 4, accept this is more fun and creepy than ever.

Graphics and sound, superb. Textures and character movements had greatly improved from the previous series. Although they need to work more on the character's facial expressions, BUT its nothing else you can expect more.

If you like goosebumps, this game is for you..scariest game

I love this game, it really scares the pants off me. The ghost pop out of everywhere even in front of the camera when your viewing something else. Sometimes when your trying to catch the ghost with your camera hands will come up from behind you and grab you or when you snap a picture of something a ghost will appear in the viewfinder. Ghost fly, ghost crawl on walls, ghost appear out of no where. You have ghost that you would rather run from then to destroy, but can't. On some ghost it's hard to get a fatal frame, it only last like a second, but I guess you have to be super fast.It's a really scary game. You feel like your in the game. Play it at night with the lights off. It kind of keeps an everlasting effect on you after you play it.Read full review...
