Great Reunion Show, Fun to Watch, Classic FMac (1997)

Wow this is a great one! We really enjoyed this show. There is a warm, touching overtone as the band members have reunited and worked together to bring us a delicious taste of our 70's memories. The song selections are arranged and ordered to create an almost tangible picture of Fleetwood Mac. Solo performances by Lindsey Buckingham's fast fingered guitar work remind us that FM is one of those groups that could play 3 notes and we know instantly who they are while blindfolded. Ahhhhhh and or course Stevie Nicks soulful intensity as she moves on the stage to paint her image of the lyrics. There is an explosive crescendo in this show when the band breaks out with the pounding "Tusk". An additional surprise ensemble (that's all I want to tell you now :) marches onto the stage. Beautiful Christine McVie and her sad eyes melts my heart! She finishes the show with an absolutely "stilling" rendition of Songbird.

I am very glad that I bought this DVD.

Fleetwood Mac - The Dance THE MOVIE/DVD

Produced in 1997 by Lindsey Buckingham and Elliot Scheiner, The DVD has most of the most loved Fleetwood Mac songs of their career. Whether its Stevie Nicks and her haunting voice sounding better than ever, or the meshing of the unique spirits and styles of bandmates, Fleetwood Mac is a phenomenon. Played across the miles for the past thirty plus years, its music that our memories were set to. First kisses to "Sara" in any backseat, dancing wildly to "Don't Stop " and saying I Love You to "Landslide" or "Songbird". At many parties, it was a staple when I was a young man.

Fleetwood Mac is comprised of Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Christine McVie, Lindsey Buckingham, and Stevie Nicks. The band wasn't even suppose to have Nicks, but they wanted Lindsey Buckingham and she was his girlfriend at the time and he would not come into it without her. She took it by storm and added her mystery and charm to its music. All have had their share of divorce, sex, drugs, and too much rock and roll or, was it the other way around? But, despite all the trouble the bandmates have shared, they came together for this reunion in 1997 for this spectacular performance.

If you loved them in the 70's, you will still love them now. A more mature sound, and more mentally together than they were 20 years ago, the lyrics seem to just come alive now. It still brings chills and yes, sometimes tears when I watch this video! You have to be brain-dead not to get that "tingly" feeling as your mind fills with the images of times gone by.

The only negative that I have which applies to many concert discs is that I've only seen it available in FULL screen format. :>(

GREAT CONCERT...put on DVD by a true MORON !

Double sided disc ! Enough room for quality audio (multiple options), quality video without the need for excessive compression !? WRONG ! WRONG ! WRONG ! I was amazed to find that all the show is crowded on a single side !!! The video is suffering from low bit rate....clearly visible on today's TVs.The other side of the disc is stupidly wasted, filled up with the same video only that side "B" features LPCM stereo sound! What a stupid waste! Why the h*ll not use dual layer DVD??? No need to put the same modest quality video TWICE on one disc, space would have been plenty for sound and less compressed, higher quality video !!!Dual layer DVD wasn't invented yet??? That maybe the issuing studio's (WB) only excuse...
Now about the show. The show is GREAT ! If one likes Fleetwood Mac....one can't go wrong with this one. This may be their greatest show ever filmed.I'm familiar with their other concert DVDs and for sure this is my favorite ! Against all odds the video quality is acceptable and the Dolby Digital surround sound is fairly good.Actually is pretty good sound for DD ! If You are thinking about buying this DVD....go ahead buy it,enjoy it.There is no better copy available. Re issue on blu-ray? I can only hope!

Fleetwood Mac - The Dance (1997) +++++

Fleetwood Mac has always been one of my all-time favorite bands ever since Stevie Nicks & Lindsey Buckingham joined the group in 1975 and they caught my attention with the release of the Stevie Nicks' classics "Rhiannon" (The White Album - 1975) and "Dreams" (Rumours - 1977). Out of all the Fleetwood Mac songs there are, those two remain my favorites. I've only seen the band live twice, the second time being their 1997 "The Dance" tour (Christine McVie's "swan song." A major loss for the band). So, since this concert was Christine McVie's last, and since you get the "best seats" when watching a band filmed live on video, buying the DVD of "The Dance" was a no-brainer! Sorry to see you go, Christine! I bought the band's 2004 live concert DVD set they did without you. Always entertaining, but not quite the same.Read full review...

Fleetwood Mac fan from the 70's

I've been a Fleetwood Mac fan since about 1976 when I heard stuff off their first American made album on the radio. I happened to see this DVD as well as other FM DVD's and I thought it would be nice to have since I'd seen clips from it on YouTube. It's a very nicely done video. Very clear and clean with 22 songs on it. Mostly classic Fleetwood Mac but there are 4 new songs as well. One thing I'd like to mention is that there is a fine line at which a camera shot lingers too long and then not long enough. I guess it's a matter of personal preference but I like the camera shots to be a little longer than most that were on this video. It drives my eyes a little buggy sometimes. Other than that, the music is great the FM members look great and the stage set and lighting is pretty cool.Read full review...

Stevie and Lindsey rock!!!

This is a must-have for all Fleetwood Mac fans! I can't say enough about it, I really can't...

Lindsey Buckingham is one of the most awesome guitarists I have ever seen and to watch him play (he uses no pick except for the banjo) is incredible! His son My Little Demon is one that everyone should be able to relate to.

Stevie Nicks is her usual gorgeous self and puts forth a very good effort to recreate the old songs. She is awesome on all of the songs, even though I have seen her on other vids doing Rhiannon in the 70's and she totally put her all into it then, but she is still amazing! Such a joy to watch....spellbinding!

Landslide is simply scrumptious!!!!!!

Buy it! Buy it! Buy it! You will love it....I promise!

First DVD I ever bought 10 years ago! I still watch it

I have followed Fleetwood Mac for over 25 years. When I bought my first DVD player in 1997, I immediatedly purchased "The Dance" as DVD in addition to the CD. So I am definitely biased in favor of Fleetwood Mac. The DVD is excellent. I loved all the songs, but the ones I liked best were Stevie Nicks' Rhiannon and Christine McVie's Songbird. There is also a surprise when the band plays "Don't stop" which was quite fun. I was not able to attend any of the live performances promoting the album, but this DVD definitely made me feel as though I was there - in the good seats. I watch this DVD several times a year and have also downloaded the CD to my iPod. All of the songs are the best of Fleetwood Mac. I have since seen Fleetwood Mac live and Stevie Nicks live, but I still consider this DVD as my favorite. If you are a Fleetwood Mac fan, this is a must addition to your collection.Read full review...

Great group Great material & performance! Makes me want to be a rock star!!

I had bookmarked & was watching several of these songs on uTube, especially the last two with the USC Marching band---really great! Always exciting, makes me feel good and puts a big smile on my face for several hours.... :-) Our connection is a little slow so I thought I'd just buy the DVD so I can watch it uninterrupted any time... Good buy; great group & performance! 5-star!!!Read full review...
