Better to buy s/h original than new 3rd party copy.

If your manifold has an annoying ticking sound, then it’s useful to pick up a cheapo s/h one of these and clean it up beforehand, so that you can do a quick install after removing the original.
>It’s very quick to select the best 4 of the 8 swirl flaps and just use these for the re-installed item. You’ll also have spare seals and actuator rod if necessary.

I actually inserted a custom support bearing at the far end of the actuator rod which makes the engine much smoother at idle. Most of the problems with this manifold design are because the actuator rod is only supported properly at one end. The other end floats - god knows why Ford/Mazda avoided securing that end too?!?

Note that the swirl flaps that are used in the Mondeo Mk3 do not fit this unit which was used in the Focus Mk2 and Mondeo Mk4. You have to dismantle one of these or buy Oriental non oem unit. These latter are cheap but aren’t made to the same standard as the original Ford units.Read full review...
