S max handrake release cable

Bought this cable as mine snapped leaving da car stuck in da middle of the road with no way of getting it off ford were very unhelpful as usual wanted nrly 600 pound to supply the whole new mechanism and fit it plus id have to wait 3 mnths 🥱🥱🥱🥱 heard about these guys so had a look watched video etc and decided to do it myself video is a bit misleading tbh only shows you the easy part once you have freed up and taken out the mechanism doesnt show the part where u have to put the car on ramps to get underneath to drop the heatshield to get to the bolts but once its out was pretty easy to do this design ov the cable makes it a bit easier all in all it was a b#####d of a job but this cable is well worth the money if you want to do.it yourself and save a fortune 👍👍Read full review...

Take your time

Having watched a couple of videos on how to strip the vehicle to complete the repairs using this replacement cable I set about stripping the centre console out of my 2010 ford galaxy ghia.
Once I had removed the centre console I then had to raise the car to get access to the retaining bolts holding the handbrake lever in place. Removing the exhaust heat shields first to do this.
Once handbrake lever mechanism removed I followed the video from x8r to fit their replacement cable. Be very careful when stripping the handle section of the lever as unfortunately a couple of my clips broke.
Fitted cable as required and rebuilt vehicle. Make sure you check tension of handbrake cable before you put everything back together as I now need to get underneath again to adjust mine.
All in all took a couple of hours and is working fine. Ford dealership wanted a fortune for new lever on it's own.
Good product.

Only way to go

Theres no way to feed orginal wire in, so this option is the right way to do repair. Smaller hands would be great for job, if you dont wanna tear down whole centre console. Removing some parts there will be space to assemble it, youtube is full of videos how to safely remove these plastic parts without breaking.Read full review...

Save a wedge!

A great product . The video instructions are clear and if the handbrake assembly has been removed the cable fitting is very easy. With the assembly in situ feeding the wire through the handbrake and over the roller proved to be difficult. Still worth every penny. Read full review...

Excellent bit of kit

I needed to strip the arm rest and side panels to get easier access, then it was a case of following the YouTube video. It would be easier to take the whole assembly out, but it was doable in situ. Very well made and fitted perfectly. Thank you for taking the time to realise there was a need for this repair and making it. Highly recommended👍🏼Read full review...

Saved me hundreds of ££££££££££

I was in the situation that the cable had snapped on the handbrake release on my Ford Galaxy. I managed to get the handbrake released and took the car to the garage. What a shock I was in for, as Ford do not do a replacement cable but instead you have to buy the complete handbrake unit.
The garage was going to charge over £250.00 plus over 3 hours labour to fit, so a bill of over £500.00 To my relief my wife found your product and with the help of the video on your site I was able to fit it myself and save a fortune. Thanks so much for such a great product.

Saves a lot of time and Money.

I bought smax 2 repair products from eBay. This is by far the better one, it Cost more, but I repaired my hand brake without the need to remove the hand brake unit from the car, a bit fiddly and tight but it saved me a lot of time and money.Read full review...

It works!!!

Finally got round to trying to fit this.
I didnt want to remove the whole assembly from the car and thankfully didnt need to.
It can be fitted in situ once the centre console is removed. Trickiest bit is threading the new cable so it comes out on top of the pulley. I used the old broken cable, made a loop with it and pushed it up the lever arm from the pulley and managed to tease the new cable through, took a few attempts though. Fasteners can be reached and tightened easily too.Read full review...

Product review galaxy handbrake cable

This was an amazing idea yes it works and can be done without removing off the car took around 2 hours and 10 t20 screws to remove my only tip would be to tape the old and new cable together to make it easier to feed it down the right hand side.... Also check the spring on the ratchet has not moved as mine had and would release but then wouldnt reattach
So yes for a amateur mechanic or some novice this is a dream

Fiddly but works great

Fitted without removing the handbrake mechanism and was so easy to do. A bit fiddly in places but saved £200 for the mechanism alone let alone the labour.

Thank god for people like this, cant believe that for the sake of a wire and an adaptor ford dont do spares, it seems so wasteful!Read full review...
