A Product that Works

I didn't buy this for the car, rather the black inner trim around the Velux windows in our upstairs rooms. I think it is textured Vinyl or some other form of plastic. They had become faded from 15 years of sunlight and stained from moisture. The concentrated detergent did a good job of removing the accumulated grime, then I applied a layer of the dye. It was easy to apply with the aplicator. Once dry (about 15 minutes) it looked 100% better but still a bit patchy in places so I gave it a second coat. It now looks brand new. I thought the product was a bit expensive but it works, so worth the money.Read full review...

Warning ! It will leave brush marks

I was after a permanent black solution and came across this stuff, what a mistake that was as it goes on well but the next day you could see brush marks all over .
I ended up getting a friend to spray paint them as they were ruined.
So avoid this stuff if you care for your car .

Decent product

I've given the plastic trim at the bottom of the windscreen a couple of coats of this. The plastic was very faded and it has made a lot of difference but could probably do with another coat or 2 to see if it will get any darker. It paints on black but dries lighter, speaking of it drying it dries quickly if you get it on the bodywork but with my car being waxed it wiped off no problem. If you have scratches on the plastic they will still show after painting this on. The applicator is good and cleans off with soapy water after use, so you'll be able to use it again. If you're plastics are very faded and you don't fancy spraying them I would recommend giving this a go. Read full review...

Best restorer I've used.

I've used a few wax based products in the past that need to be reapplied weekly. Started looking for a more permanent solution and came across this. Needs 2-3 coats and takes a bit of time but it works! Bumpers look brand new. Can't comment if it will last the 2 years stated but even if I had to reapply every 6-12 months it would still be worth it.Read full review...

Still the only real option

Although there are other products that claim to restore faded and bleached-out exterior automotive trim, almost all are creams - a glorified version of "Armor All." But not this one. Forever Black is a dye that goes on with a foam applicator and is buffed off later (somewhat like shoe polish.)

And it works. I have been collecting and restoring vintage cars for 30 years, and it's still really the ONLY thing that truly works.

Prep work on the plastic is important, but once clean the dye goes on easily and penetrates well. NOTE: It works best on plastics which have a little texture to them. It will work fine on shiny, smooth plastic as well, but there can be a tendency to see brush strokes if you are not extremely careful. Buff more aggressively on the shiny surfaces to help minimize this effect.

Overall, it's a great product. Not cheap, but what option do you have? Nothing else does the job even half as well.

Best bumper black you'll ever use

This is literally the best bumper black I have ever used, it really stains the bumpers back to better than new condition, mine were stained and had gone a very light grey with light scuffs and damage (as expected on an old Transit van). This stuff covered everything in 3 coats, front and back. I still have 2/3rds of a bottle left!

I recommend going one extra step, whilst I used the provided cleaning solution I felt that it didn't do as good a job as it should of (bit my bumpers were covered in oil spills and very stained), so I got some dish washing detergent and gave it a really deep clean before applying the back to black and also wait until the entire bumper is bone dry before applying!

My vans bumpers look better than new, shame about the rest of the van!

Amazing works as good as I hoped, which most things these days don't!

Truly a great product. Did both my bumpers and the stone chip paint on my arches as well as the stone chip paint on my outer sills. One coat did it all and only used about half the bottle. Will use it on my mirrors and window trim tomorrow. The only bad thing is the foam brush, just use a 2 inch paint brush easier to get into the nooks and crannies! Brush washes out with water! You don't need to load up the brush just put a pea sized blob on the tip of the brush at a time as it goes a long way! Read full review...

Best I've used

Well worth the effort it requires to apply. I spent a couple of hours cleaning and giving the plastic trim on my GLA 2 coat's of this product. Came up really well and looks great. Revived the plastic well. Definitely better than anything else on the market that I have used. Read full review...

this one actually works

I guess it's the only real product that will actually dye the bumpers and not just some wax that will disintegrate in few weeks. It's necessary to clean the surface thoroughly (I also used some IPA to degrease the surface) and apply at least two coats, some areas will need even more. I am not sure how long until it fades but I read something about 1-2 years. It's easy to apply and the bottle will cover bumpers on a larger SUV for several coats. Read full review...
