Good Comedy

Our favourite comedy series is Cheers But when we couldn't get past Season7 we decided to try Frasier. We are really enjoying it,almost as good as Cheers and good clean Comedy. We are now checking ebay for more and hope to get all the series, it is suitable for all ages and and makes a change from most comedy these days which rely on "bad" language to get a laugh.Read full review...

top entertainment

Many sitcoms suffer from one of two problems. Either "slow to start" and struggle to find their feet, having to shed a little surplus character along the way, or "brilliant pilot - shame about the rest". Frasier thankfully avoids both downfalls. from the pilot episode onward the scripts and casting are excellent. the timing of the comedy is superb, and some moments prove the theory that even in comedy often a picture (i.e. a look or facial expression) is worth a thousand words.
That said there are also some exceptionaly thought provokingly meloncholy moments too, that really tug at the heartstrings.

Now, obvously the standard will, on occasion, slip from perfection; but only very rarely do I see something that "does't work" for my sense of humour.
If I were forced to make a criticsm than it would have to be the same one levelled at so many comedies (probably all of them infact), and that would be the "canned" laughter. I don't know, maybe there was a studio audience, and certainly the laughter is no more overdone in Frasier than many other sitcoms from both sides of the pond, but this is a pet hate of mine, and certainly with this quality of script and performance you shouldn't need a studio audience or tinned laughter to prompt you when to laugh yourself.
Timeless classics, my 13 yearold is now hooked and appreciating the quality (my 10 yearold doesnt quite get it...but he will).
24 episodes plus usual DVD extras in each season. well worth adding to the collection.

Frasier Series 1

Originally a spin-off from the hit American comedy show 'Cheers', 'Frasier', in the opinion of this reviewer has surpassed Cheers in the realm of comedy sitcom world. Series 1 develops the main characters, Frasier, his brother Niles, his father Martin, Roz his producer and Daphne his fathers physio (with a very dodgy Mancunian accent) and Eddie, Martin's dog.
As Frasier works on the radio as the host of his own call-in advice show, when he's not dealing with the problems of his troubled listeners, he's embroiled in skirmishes at home. One of television's most enduring and funniest series.

Frasier - Series 1(DVD 2003)

Thoroughly enjoyed every single episode of Frasier series 1. I have since bought Frasier series 2, which I also really enjoyed. I may well purchase Frasier 3 on eBay and subsequent series.
Frasier series 1 was excellent the way it contextualised the whole series with the introduction of Frasier's father and the dog, Eddie. It was a real joy to see the very first pilot episode.Read full review...
