Fujifilm's go-anywhere super telephoto is an excellent performer with a deluxe but fair price

It's the only telephoto available for the Fujifilm XF system so it's a good thing this is an excellent lens. I have directly compared this to the Sony 200-600mm and, despite the obvious autofocus advantages in the Sony, the printed images are more often indistinguishable. To my mind it's slightly behind image quality in the Nikon 200-500mm and Sony 100-400mm GM but equal to the Sony 200-600mm and Sigma 150-600mm telephotos. What that means is that you will not be disappointed in the image quality. The autofocus was actually quite excellent on the XT3, XPro3, and the XT30. If you are using an older generation, you might find a drop in hit rates on the XT2 generation sensors / AF systems. This is a decent value zoom when bought used, and a little pricey for an APS-C telephoto zoom brand new. All that being said, it does the job and it finds its way into my backpack due to its weight and size more often that my Sony 200-600mm for opportunity birding. Read full review

A true gem of a lens

For Fujifilm interchangeable lens camera owners, and if you like to take photographs of wildlife, this lens is perfect. It is a bit heavy, but balances well with either the X-T2/T3 or X-H1 with added grip. It is well made and the quality of the lens shows in the way it focuses and zooms so smoothly and in the resulting photographs. For me, the reach is perfect for those zoo trips with my grandkids or my treks into the mountains for pictures of elk, deer and birds. Get one and enjoy using this gem.Read full review

Fuji 100-400 zoom lens

Purchased this lens primarily for birding as I was looking for more 'reach'. Using it with my XT-3 and yeah, the lens is a bit heavy and cumbersome to handhold (but what 400mm lens isn't). I ended up using it with the additional battery grip which gave me better control managing it. Putting the tripod bracket on it and using it on a tripod makes it very manageable if I'm shooting stationary subjects. Using it for flying birds is still challenging. The images are tack sharp and the it hits focus rather well. Overall I'm very happy with the lens. A few of my shots are attached.Read full review

Good 100-400

Fuji knows what it is doing. It completes a T-1X kit. With this lens, I have everything I need. If I wanted to try to make a
living with a camera this would be an essential lens. Medium to long-range with sharpness I need. Can't say enough
good things about it. Anyone need some Nikon equipment?

Great lens for the price

NIce lightweight lens ( for it's zoom range ). Comfortable to handhold. Very sharp, even wide open, through the entire range. Maybe a tad less sharp at 400mm, but still very nice and easily sharpened a bit in post production editing. I'm not a pixel peeper that peers at sharpness at all the corners, so this isn't a techinical review. I go by the general "feel" of how a lens renders a scene, and this lens is a winner. Nice bokeh with creamy backgrounds. Auto focus seems to be quite fast and accurate ( I was using it on a Fuji XT3 ). I'm a little concerned about how weather resistant the lens is when it zooms out to 400mm and then back into the lens while wet. ( It's not internal focus, so the lens is about 5-6" longer when zoomed out ). I've attached a few quickie test shots from my backyard. Read full review

Great long telephoto for fuji.

Very good lens if you need a long telephoto for fuji. It is heavy and expensive but worth the price.
The OIS is also very effective and it is quite impressive to be able to hand-hold a 600mm equivalent lens with great results.

If you plan to use this on a tripod you should consider buying a foot replacement with a arca-swiss foot.

Fabulous Lens

I am absolutely amazed with this lens. I recently switched from full frame nikon cameras, D3s, D700, and a D810, to the Fujifilm X-Pro2, and this lens coupled with the X-Pro2 is fabulous. I couldn't be happier with the lens.Read full review

Sharp lens

The lens will feel a little big on your fuji but it's nothing compared to some of the DSLR telephotos. More importantly, you can get tack sharp photos and great detail from this lens, plus it's extremely durable and well made. OIS is amazing Read full review

Fujifilm 100-400mm

So far it has blown away what I read in reviews and seen on videos. Me and my Wife are for fun photographers and this was a big plus for us. We photograph whatever happens to unfold and this has been awesome on multiple occasions. Superb sharpness!!!Read full review

Great lens with great reviews

At first I thought there was a fault in the lens as I couldn't focus. I discovered it was due to a polarising filter that resulted in the lens not bering able to focus. By removing the filter, manually focusing then putting filter back, the lens kept the focus for the shot.
Im looking forward to shooting the final race for the current Americas cup races in Auckland, NZ!
