WH40K Dungeon Crawler Expansion - Fun, But Pricey
A couple of things first.
You need the Blackstone Fortress core box (as of this writing it is still available directly from Games Workshop for $150 USD).
BSF is its own game, mechanically speaking, and so exists as a unique gaming environment wholly set within the greater WK40K universe. It is daunting and complex when you first start playing it, but after you get the hang of it the game becomes really manageable and enjoyable. The figures are high quality, GW models and snap together easily. Also included are rules for their use in WH40K as augments to tabletop armies.
The Ascension expansion builds upon this foundation instead of changing it outright via inclusion of a new unit, the Guardian Drone, new tiles, and new campaign materials. Two of these models are in this expansion, and though it is a bit expensive as compared to the multitude of figures and materials found in the core box, Ascension markedly improves the gaming experience. As in the core box set, rules are also included for use in WH40K battles. As a bonus, the synergy between the Guardian Drones and the Spindle Drones from the core set is retained when moving from game tiles to tabletop battles, which might somewhat offset the cost for less casual players. The models themselves look fantastic and integrate seamlessly into the game alongside previously issued models.
Recommend purchase for dedicated BSF fans, but it is difficult to recommend for more casual players due to its relatively high cost. Read full review

Its fun and exciting!
Its a great game that is very entertaining. Even though it has few minis in it, it has alot of extra tiles and fun stuff with it. A secret compartment that you are not supposed to see before the story tells you to open it.Read full review
