Garmin Nuvi 57LM GPS unit.

Hello,

I have a Garmin Nuvi 57LM GPS and have been evaluating its performance recently; i had been using my 10 year old Navsure prior to this, and it served me pretty well. Screen size was very limited, and there were no "gimmicks" to potentially distract from the primary role of navigating me from A to B.

The Garmin has a far superior display size and there is useful Speed advice given including alerts to cameras etc;
I found several times that i was on top of a roundabout before the unit alerted me to it and the pronunciation of "Herefordshire" and "Brynmawr" was obscure.

My old unit counted down to roundabouts and junctions with "in one mile, in 400 yards, in 200 yards - now turn right/left, or take roundabout exit," very clearly and well - less so i found on the garmin.

Aside from these "niggles", i like it's clear and large display. I have yet to explore its full potential, so confine my comments to the areas i have highlighted.
Oh, yes - power button is very small and hard to activate - that's it from me.

Its a satnav .... it gets you there.

Simple to understand. Easy to use.
Please note that it will only go into "navigate mode" when powered using the Garmin 12V cigarette lighter car adaptor. It will not work when connected using the USB cable as this cable is intended for data download/updates received via a PC or laptop. Can be frustrating. This is the only negative I can think of. easy to navigate. i have to update the map after i received the product. problem with this it says 30mph when the current speed limit sign is 40mph! I think garmin has to update again their software to be able to cath up on the recent UK speed limit. but anyway driver must always rely on actual speed sign and not depend on this. but over all I am happy for the purchase.Read full review

This is a good sat nav. It has a clear screen and even tells you when you are over the speed limit! The only disadvantage with it is that you can't put a postcode in - you put the actual address in instead (town/village and street).Read full review

very very low speed the car is moving faster than give direction to go left exit when car pass exit give direction to go left or right
