Seems to work fine
It hooked up to my Garmin GPSMAP 64st without a problem. Can't say how accurate it is. My only complaint/concern is that it doesn't have a switch on it. Once the battery is in it never shuts off. I'm fairly certain it only emits a low energy bluetooth signal but why have a signal at all if you're not using it. I haven't read anywhere that it has a programmed auto shut off. It's a pain to open it up to slip in a tiny piece of paper to cut the battery connection but the battery should last a long time. Oh well, thems the breaksRead full review

Less than what this product should do
Not easy to hook up and less so to view the temp on my Fenix 5XS. Directions are rather vague and no directions on how to use or view. Garmin should have done a better job. I don't have much confidence in this product...Read full review

Very Accurate!
I was unsure about this sensor option after spending hundreds in the head unit & other sensors but my coach suggested I mount one to the inside of my helmet to monitor head temperature which with the heart-rate monitor can provide live data that can be useful data for hydration and recovery and even warn of overheating.
One thing I did notice that the "Tempe" reading is very accurate and its not really effected by sunlight or breezes, even when cupped in a hand the temperature gently climbs and then remains stable so its doesn't jump around unless the ambient air temperature changes
If your a rider looking to improve then any data you can collect and sync to your display will help if you take advantage of it.. I say go for it!Read full review

Handy!
I use the Tempe with my Garmin Vivoactive HR watch. It paired automatically, and connects every time they're in close proximity at the start of an activity. It connects securely to my shoes or anything like a shoelace or belt loop. Great addition adding valuable info to any workout.Read full review

Expected Garmin quality
I have been using the Tempe temperature sensor for a while now with my Oregon 450. It works just fine. The battery cover requires a little finesse to get on and off, but it's not a show stopper. The setup was simple enough and since it's operation is automatic, it is simple enough to use. As for being a good value, I would say yes only because of the price I paid at eBay. I had seen it for more and in some cases for quite a bit more. I don't believe I would consider it "good value" at some of the higher prices. As for reliability, it works without interruption, but the temperature I receive using it differs slightly (a degree or two) from what others I hike with show with their devices. Since there are any number of factors that could cause the difference, including their devices not being accurate, I cannot fault the Tempe. All in all I like it and would buy it again at a price at or near what I paid for mine!Read full review

Refresh rate too slow
The problem I have with this product is that the refresh rate is too slow. If you are in a warm car, or your house, and go outside to a colder temp (or visa-versa), it takes 10 minutes or longer for the temp sensor to stabilize and display the new temp. Another example: when skiing and going up and down the mountain where the temp can change 10 - 15 degrees every run, I can't trust the sensor's temp at any given time because it always lags behind the true temp. (I have it exposed outside my coat per the instructions). I suppose if you are in a stable temp environment where the temp changes very little over time, this devise works fine.Read full review

Good, but the expectation was greater
It is good and works, but requires that the watch must be in the temp screen to be connected and takes some time to link. Some times it is needed to call in the menu to ask the watch to interrogate the sensor to be alive.Read full review

Garmin Tempe Pod ~ buy it!
My Garmin Forerunner 235 auto recognized it, so installation was a breeze. I've been using it for a few weeks now and it works as advertised, I would like to figure out how to see the reading on my 235 while I'm using it ~ but that's a 235 issue not a Tempe issue. For those of us that like techie stuff, or want to directly compare one run to another you need one of these!Read full review

It works for me
Seen several reviews with problems but I took a chance and glad I did. It connects and works reliably even on my aging 235. It’s small, light, and easy too attach to clothes, bike, or bag. I’m very pleased so far. Read full review

Terrific Add-on for activity tracker
I purchased this for use with Garmin's Vivoactive activity tracker. It allows you to add current temperature as a data field to actvities. It paired super fast to the tracker and brings up the temperature as soon as the activity starts. I do a lot of walking and its great to see what the temperature is as I walk.Read full review
