A very clever series!

You either like Gavin and Stacey or hate it. I don't know why but it appeals to me. I love the throwaway lines slipped in. Alison Steadman overacts loyfully and her surname before marriage is West and she married "Shipman" another of teh characters [Adrian Scarborough] is Peter Sutcliffe [a pattern emerges!]

Ruth Jones [Nessa] has some cracking lines - again thrown away - Smiffy [James Corden] has "accidently" got her pregnant and she says " I just can't believe this, Stace. Of all the people I've slept with it's him gets me pregnant. Not Nigel Havers, not John Prescott, not any of Goldie Lookin Chain. No, some knobhead from Essex"

Gavin and Stacey - Series 2

I love this series, the second being as funny as the first series I think. Being Welsh myself I spent many a happy day trip at Barry Island so its close to my heart, oh and I married an Englishman.....need I say more. I found the Ebay system very straightforward to purchase the DVD.Read full review...

Can't wait for it to be released on DVD

This is become a favourite programme in many houses. How refreshing, in these days of dark dramas and murder mysteries to have a comedy where people find joy in the little things of life. Rob Brydon as Bryn is hilarious and loveable as he happily navigates, his way through life, gadget by gadget, trend by trend. In Series One it was all about sat nav and digital cameras ("see that? there's no film in there!") and in series two he gets drawn into unintentional homo-erotica (semi naked workouts with Smithy, watching Brokeback Mountain!!!). Life makes him happy and its a joy to watch. Then you have dry as a bone Ness, played by actress and co-writer Ruth Jones (Little Britain, Fat Friends, Nighty Night) my favourite character. She never cracks a smile but has lived more lives than a cat and drops in scintilating detail to deadpan effect. She drives a 6.5 ton truck, has produced news programmes for the BBC, and lives with Noel from Hearsay. In the last series, she recalls how she got married and woke up the next morning "in bed with one of Gladys Knight's Pips". As for Smithy and his unfeasibly young girlfriend ("I'm meeting her after guides to talk it through"), he oozes charisma and comedy in his almost accidental and sordid affair with Ness, now pregnant with his child. There isn't room here to list how each charcter has their own set of foibles and quirks, but not a scene is wasted and you could, and do, watch it again and again. The best comedy to emerge in decades.
Five stars from me, six if I could.

GAV and Stace 2

Gavin is an ordinary boy from England, Stacey is an ordinary girl from Wales. After speaking on the phone to each other every day at work they finally met, fell in love and got married.

Series One of Gavin and Stacey told the simple love story of two young people from different parts of the UK and the impact their relationship had on their friends and family.
Series Two, we travel back to Barry in Wales and Essex in England to find out how Gavin and Stacey's marriage is working out, what is happening in the lives of their respective families, and, more importantly, if their best friends Nessa and Smithy are finally getting along with each other. Not as good as series ,but still belly laugh a minute .Bryn,Nessa and Smithy carry the best ones with great back up .This comedy is a real Cult comedy in the same league as Only fools and horses and little Britain

All in all ANOTHER great/TIDY comedy from Ruth Jones and James Corden
