I bought Gebhardt because of their reputation. I made a pot of chili with a bear roast I had in the freezer and it was the best I ever made! The bear meat was on the smoker with hickory wood for about 4 or 5 hours and I added several kinds of hot pepper from the garden. That could've been a factor. Found a wonderful chef's chili recipe which apparently was the chili that Liz Taylor craved while on set filming Cleopatra. This particular recipe is the very one cooked up and it required Gebhardt chili powder - no substitutes. The chili turned out delicious - different than most chili recipes made with "regular" chili powder.
