Godzilla and Friends, Battle Royale - fun for all ages

Probably one of my favorite fighting games. There's something about playing as a giant monster fighting with other monsters and doing it all within a fully destructable city that just makes me happy, and having Godzilla characters only makes it better.
Although this game does not appear to be made for widescreen TV's, on my XBOX 360 the picture is turned into a box with the sides of the screen black.
Still a great game even for how old it is, I have owned this game a total of three times, every time I get rid of it I want to play it again within a few months.
My Kids also enjoy this game, I've seen them play it several times for up to an hour since I added it to the game collection.... for the third time.

4 out of 5, mainly due to not being in widescreen.

Godzilla: Save The Earth (360)

I decided to purchase this title for one, I'm a fan of the Godzilla series and whole giant monster genre, but aside from that, this is still a fun title to play on XBox Live, with other friends who have the game.

Unfortunately, this game has seemed to lost a lot of players online, and finding an online match is near impossible (unless you know the person, or e-mail them ahead of time).

The multiplayer in the game, such as match making is the worst I've ever seen a game. The multiplayer menu is terrible, after every game you cannot stay in the same game, you always have to create a new one and re-invite whoever was in your last game. The voice while trying to talk with your friends in the game is glitchy and a bit jumpy so it sounds weird.

If your a fan of the genre, and have other friends that occasionally play this title on XBox Live, I would say go for it and get the game, otherwise...I'd wait for a much better Godzilla game, or even for Godzilla:Unleashed to come out for the 360.

Godzilla Fans Will Only Be Entertained For So Long...

I am a HUGE Godzilla fan - the Japanese movies, not the poor excuse of an American monster. When I heard Godzilla was going to have new games, naturally I was ecstatic - but playing this game really let me down. This is the second of the two recently released Godzilla games. Both games are relatively the same, the only difference being characters basically. Playing through this, though, you will tire quickly of the repetative action and such. Here's my quick take:

Likes: I like being the monsters and running through cities, destroying buildings and other monsters. I like the multiplayer and the mayhem it creates when four monsters are battling it out. It's just fun being monsters you watched on TV. I like having to unlock the other monsters. The random power-ups are fun too. The graphics are so-so and the sound effects are the same - at least they got the monsters' roars good!

Dislikes: There is no story mode - oh, they say story mode, but all you really do is choose a monster and fight one monster after another. It's more like an arcade game than anything. You'll fight several different monsters in a row, in different cities and then that's it - it's done. I also don't like the limited moves. Each monster has different moves, but they're all similar in the styles. Each characters can pick up and throw, or do a move while holding the opponent, they can punch and kick, use their tail if they have one, some can fly. I know we're talking about large monsters, but their move sets could be a bit different and expansive than they are. As a long time Godzilla fan, there's a few things that bother me as far as the monster selection goes. Where is Titanasauras (from Terror of MechaGodzilla)? Where is Hedorah aka The Smog Monster? - He has a walk on role, but why can't we play as him? Howcome there's no Godzilla from 1960 or somewhere in that era? We have Godzilla 90s and Godzilla 2000, but shouldn't use long time fans who adore the classics be rewarded as well? And speaking of the older movies, why can't we be the original MechaGodzilla? How about Ebirah the large lobster-like creature? Long time Godzilla fans might crave more monsters than this game presents. Also, there are mini games along the way that just take the game down to a child-like level. There will be games that simulate basketball and other such activities that these monsters should not be engaging in, in any way.

I think Atari could pull out a better Godzilla game if they tried. I cannot stress that it IS fun, but only for a limited time because they repetative action and lack of variety or story kills this game. I'd like to see a game with a story where you can play as Godzilla - destroying cities, fighting armies, aliens and other monsters - but also as a person! As a person, there could be scenes where you have to escape Godzilla in a car chase, or have to escape from a building he had destroyed before it crumbles down and kills you. Maybe you have to sneak onto an alien space ship and bust up their computer? See where I'm going with this? If Atari had a true Godzilla fan develop a game, it would be awesome. Instead, we are left with an arcade, smash-em-up, brawling game whose replay value is rather low. Better luck next time, Atari.

Great Game!!

I bought Godzilla: Save the Earth for my six year old son. He has other Godzilla games, but this is his favorite. He said it has more characters available and is easier to play. Even though Godzilla: Save the Earth is made for Xbox, it plays well on the XBox 360. The only thing he does not like is that the "cheats" he uses (to unlock all characters/places)cannot be saved.Read full review...

Better than the first game! great fighting action

If you're a Godzilla fan, this is a must own. it's an improvement over the original game Godzilla Melee. But since they have different monsters, you should own both. the action is faster, the difficulty level is more accurate with this game. in the original, the monsters were too good even on easy. they sped up the action in this sequel so it's not so plodding. they're still big massive beasts, but now they have some nimbleness. this game is like smash bros in that you can have multiplayer mayhem.Read full review...

This is a great game.

We had rented this xbox game many times from Hollywood. Well, someone kept it and they could not replace it. We put this one on our wish list from Gamestop and and EB games and they could not find one . So, Ebay saved the day, no pun intended and now we have the game two years after our quest began.
Godzilla :Save the Earth (Xbox) has Mothra in it and that was what we missed in all the other Godzilla games we had. Well, will that do? It's my reveiw...

Excellent Game

For an XBOX game it is very good. Controls feel good, good amount of characters to keep you entertained. Throwback to Godzilla movies which enables you to feel what it is like to play as Gigan or any other character from the movies. Overall a pleasure to play and entertaining.Read full review...

The best Godzilla game to date

This game is an absolute classic. If you’re a Godzilla fan this is a must have, and the gameplay is great for its time. All the monsters are unique and are themselves great callbacks to all the old Godzilla movies.Read full review...
