Peace of mind..

I’ve had a car engine ruined due to main stealer service over filling with oil.. swore it’d never happen again
This looked promising, with a name that i recognise.
I don’t know if it is or isn’t the “real deal” but i am rather surprised that for something supplied with so many add on’s, there aren’t ANY instructions in the pack! I know it’s not rocket science but, i actually can’t quite see how to secure the dipstick sucking tube correctly into the pump (knowing from previous experience it takes an awful lot of “suck” to get the oil out)
Anyway. Delivery was quick enough, packaging good, item seems well made. Dropped a point for lack of any sort of guidance as to how to use it.

Slowwwww

Used this to drain oil from engine sump, which it did eventually. First problem I faced was that the enclosed dipstick tube was too thick to push down the tube. Now, I don't know if my dipstick pipe is of a smaller diameter than other cars, but don't imagine it is. Relatedly, when I found a fine enough tube, the restricted flow was slow. Very slow. Took me 90m to drain 2.5 l. But it got there in the end. Finally, and most importantly folks!, is that while the pump is inexpensive, you can get virtually identical models for nearly half the price elsewhere on eBay. The only difference is the colour and (what I suspect boosts the price of ths model) the lack of an established brand name. So two stars docked for each down side.Read full review...

It is ok but don’t expect perfect.

Bought the pump to take out petrol from my car. I choose this product coz it is Goodyear brand. The tubes are fold up. It is difficult to fix it back in round shape. Also the tubes are too short, at the end I bought a longer tube from diy shop to take out all petrol. When you are pumping, some of the petrol came out from the bottom of the pump. Make sure you wear disposal groves.Read full review...

Shame it does not dismantle for cleaning.

This should be sold as a single fluid type item as it does not dismantle for efficient cleaning. Once used for engine oil, ( new or old ) it can't be cleaned enough to use it for another fluid. If it is used for water then don't use it for oil...Shame as it pulls well ( 20 / 50 oil ) and as yet has not leaked. Oh ! and no assembly directions....Read full review...

Poor quality hose

I bought this to replace a length of clear pipe to siphon water from my aquarium so I wouldn’t get any of the water in my mouth. The pump works well and does what I wanted but the blue hose that came with it is really poor quality and was kinked from the way it was packaged when I used it and is far too thin and springy. If it were my choice I would use clear tube so you could see the liquid traveling through it and much thicker so it wouldn’t kink constantly. I’m sure I will end up changing the pipe before very long out of frustrationRead full review...

I needed this item to transfer petrol fuel from a motorbike tank into a container, so that I could mix in a special additive. The main problem I had was with the supplied plastic tubing. Firstly, it was thin walled and was kinked in several places. With the tubes in position for use I could not pump anything. The tubes were kinking in the tank and not reaching the petrol. Also, they were not petrol proof. With my own tubing the pump worked well.Read full review...

Goodyear Syphon - Awesome

Worked perfectly for draining Diesel out of a Mondeo (Mk3) fuel tank. Only warning is the supplied houses are short but I used by inserting one end into a garden hose (perfect fit without clips and secure enough during pumping) and inserted garden hose down into tank.
Took maybe 20 mins to drain entire tank (almost full).

Worked Okay but was a lot of effort and had to go through the fuel pump not filler neck.

This is okay. It did what I wanted, retrieve fuel from my dead car. But I had to go through the fuel pump.

Even then the ends came off spurting fuel everywhere, it was messy.

It's not like syphoning where you pull a little and it self bleeds. You have to pump it all out. So this process took me a while. But I really was syphoning dregs.

It did the job, I have stowed it away, no doubt it will become useful again some point in the future.

Very Effective Hand Syphon pump

This is amazingly cheap for a strong hand pump that makes quick work of transferring liquids and because it is hand operated you can control the volume and flow of fluid
It allows you to transfer fluid into either large or small containers Strong construction that is easy to clean
And simple to operate Highly recommended

Does not drain out engine bay oil

I bought this specifically to drain out some excessive oil from my car. This product doesn’t even fit in the dipstick part of the car, the tunes aren’t even measured correctly to stick them in and bloody parts that come with it have no use! No instruction manual with the product?! Not happy at allRead full review...
