Cool gadget

Google has created a nice device that provides music and information by voice control. The microphone is very good and will usually pick up commands from across the room. The speakers sound surprisingly good for such a small device. I wish it had tone control though. It will stream Pandora, YouTube music, Spotify and Google Play Music. You do need to have a paid subscription to play specific songs on request. I subscribed to the YouTube Music app and it is pretty good. The only downside is I have most of my personal music collection on iTunes and it will not stream. Other than that it's a cool device.Read full review

Wish it was portable

I do love my google, home but I thought that it was portable and not plugged up into the wall like a radio. I like devices that I can carry around with me instead of it being stuck in one place. Because I would like to take it to the river to the lake places that we go to I don't want to just be able to use at home in one room because who can afford to buy one for every room. But if you're looking for something that stationary and you don't want to move it yes get the Google home it works very well has good sound has good quality just can't afford to have one that's for home and one I can take with meRead full review

My 2nd Google Home Device

Hopefully it will continue to evolve, but happy with the device. Plus I have Google Cast speakers which this helps me control and send music of my choice to my speakers. Love standard features, such as interfacing with google search, google music, etc. Plus, great alarm clock and keeps my calendar at my convenience.Read full review

Google Home - UK user

Very easy to setup using Android app - although I had to change my phone's language from English(UK) to English(US).

I had trouble getting good UK->US plug adapter, because supplied power adaptor has built-in plug and is quite heavy, so it tends to fall out of plug adapters that don't grip tightly! Also, you can not use your favourite 5V USB power supply, as the supply is 16.5V, 2A with an angled jack plug that fits in the bottom of the Home device. This plug adapter worked well for ebay dot co dot uk/itm/30112866514

Easy to link to my chromecast tv, but I have not yet managed to connect it to my chromecast audio, rather when I try to connect it, the chromecast audio, it says 'voice control not supported'.

Google Home only plays google music tracks my name and/or artist if you subscribe to google music.
If you only have the free google music service, it will only play playlists that you have created.
This is bad, as the Echo Dot can play tracks by name from Prime music.

I also bought Echo Dot (as most of my music is on Amazon Prime). Google Home is better at contextual questions, but the Echo Dot is not bad either.

Smart speaker, much smarter than Echo

This is smart enough to know human nature language. Also it is perfect companion with Chromecast, it voice command TV on/off and volume, as well as what to stream from YouTube on TV, also you can choose specific songs from Spotify using free account, it makes chromecast more useful, and chromecast makes it more useful.Read full review

With Google Home, there are no surprises

I researched differences between the Google Home & other brands. I chose the Google Home because it had more a personality. She tells jokes, remembers things you've said, when asking multiple questions & in my opinion, was a lot prettier. With just a little research, you'll easily find the one PERFECT for you !!!

For playing music, another brands cheaper device has a tiny speaker, their medium priced device is not voice activated & their comparable device costs much more.

Google is a tech company, not a retail company, so they can't inadvertently charge me for ANYTHING. That's the biggest plus for me.

Worth the money!

I didn't have high expectations when I purchased this product as I was aware that many features are still being added. However, I was greatly surprised when I found out how good the speakers are and also how much Google Assistant can actually help me. Would definitely recommend!Read full review

My new friend

It feels like I am living in the future. The technology is fantastic. The timer is used for cooking. It has replaced my clock radio to wake me up in the morning. My spelling is now easier to be accurate. It finds my cell phone when I lose it around the house. It greets me when I say "hey Google. I'm home" We play trivia game. Music is fun. Every day, I experiment and find new features.Read full review

Better than expected

Two work buddies have Alexas, and I haven't found anything yet that Alexa can do that Google Home can't. Kiddos love it, speaker sounds good, great for alarm and snoozing, as well as playing sleep sounds. Paried it to our big Monster brand Bluetooth speaker, and rocks the house.Read full review

It works OK

Given the point it's at in it's development it works well. Spotify has some serious issues and the Personal Assistant side is not yet well-developed but for a type of product that's at it's introductory stages it's faring well. I didn't judge my 8-bit Nintendo by the same yard stick I would today so I won't judge the Google Home by what I'd imagined. :)Read full review
