Great replacement tuners
These are really nice looking and solid replacement tuners. I fit them on a 2017 Les Paul Tribute. I didn't know at the time of ordering, but they are vintage tuners, and they are advertised as such. What that means is that the bushing supplied are 8mm. Which fits vintage Gibsons.. Not my 2017 model. I had to get 10mm bushing separately so that I could install them. Not a fault of the product of course that's my fault for not reading well enough. Just remember that when you buy them, they come with 8mm bushings.
The tuners are slick looking and work perfectly. I try to get 18:1 ratio tuners since I believe they are more accurate and easier to dial in the right tuning. These tuners are tight and don't slip. There are absolutely no tuning problems using these. Highly recommend them if you're replacing broken or worn tuners (or in my case, replacing the Gibson G-Force robot-tuners).
I would not generally recommend them if you already have solid, working stock tuners. They don't make your guitar magically stay in tune. In all likelihood if your guitar falls out of tune often it's the nut or bridge, maybe the neck, or possibly strings. But if you're replacing broken or worn tuners, or replacing stock Epiphone tuners, then these are excellent.Read full review

Perfect Drop-In
I love my Hofner Contemporary Series basses, 500/1 and 500/5 (violin and President) but the tuning machines are awful. Not smooth or too accurate. Terrible for gigs. The Grover V97 18NA's drop in perfectly. No new holes to drill. Perfect fit. They also stay in tune wonderfully and have a much more comfortable finger-feel when turning them than do the stock Hofner plastic ones. Truly a perfect upgrade for the Hofner Contemporary Beatle bass and the Hofner Contemporary President bass.Read full review

Best Value in an excellent Tuner
Most people will never experience the difference a quality set of guitar tuners make to a cheap acoustic guitar. These are the best for the price, and are respected in the industry for staying in tune. I put mine on a new acoustic guitar build I made, and they provide a quality vintage look I was looking for, without the sometimes sloppiness of the originals.
There are "Grover-like" tuners for less money, but those cheap chinese tuners are consistently sub-par knockoffs. Choose genuine Grover tuners and you will be happy.Read full review

Exceptional Budget Option!
These open back tuners are hard to beat for the price. Fit and finish is good. Solid, stable, with no slop. A very nice alternative to Waverly's.

Need to replace crappy tuners? These are quality tuners!
Bought these to replace the crappy tuners that came on my Hofner Ignition bass.
(The screw holes for each tuner lined up perfectly, but I had to use a small round file to enlarge the peg hole just a bit to press in the included bushing. Easy to do.) The Grovers are much better quality; functionally smoother, tighter response when tuning, and hold tune well. Huge improvement.Read full review

Grover 18:1
I bought these to replace a set of Waverly's that came on my Bourgeois Country Boy. They're a lot smoother and easier than the ones they replaced and also have an 18:1 ratio. Great value.

Precision tuning. Easy to install
Used these to replace sealed tuning machines on a Yamaha AC3R acoustic. The sealed tuners were working fine, but do't compare. Gives a nice vintage look and a small amount of less weight.

Very very good.
No cons that I can think of. These tuners have made tuning a breeze. I love them. Note the 18:1 ratio. Yay!

Good but not great
yes they are low cost, yes they work.....after a few weeks they loosen. and I was hoping the screws on the end of the key shaft would allow you to tighten them. seems this is not the case. so they just do the job and thats it.Read full review
