Tow Tuff

I put the trailer dolly together easily. The parts are not aerospace grade but seem adequate to position a trailer. I placed the 2-5/8"hitch on the 2 inch ball provided. I easily moved and manouvered the trailer in a fairly tight space. Since I'm not in the habit of moving trailers all the time, this item appears to be adequate for the job. The trailer I have is a 16 foot double axle heavy duty utility trailer. I'm satisfied.Read full review

Heavy Duty Dolly

This dolly is very heavy and well-constructed. I had my male co-workers assemble it using the instructions provided and it was very easy to assemble. Due to the size, weight, and large spread of the tires, the dolly needed to be transported (fully assembled) to my home in a pickup truck. I drive a Jetta and it would not fit in my car. I purchased this dolly so that I could maneuver my small lightweight pop up into my 2-stall garage by myseslf. The height of the dolly at the top of the 2 inch ball was too tall to fit under the hitch of my pop up, which caused me not to have the proper leverage to use the dolly to its fullest potential. Most of the weight was distributed on the pop up because I had to crank the pop up to it's highest point just in order to wedge the ball underneath the pop up hitch. I am a female of 125 pounds and was not strong enough to pull the dolly with the pop up attached. The 3rd wheel on the dolly was very helpful in turning the pop up 180 degrees so that I could "push" the pop up into the garage with the dolly. It was extremely heavy for me to push and now I have a major backache. I feel disappointed because I thought this would be a simple answer to parking my pop up in the garage. I'm not sure if I will be returning this dolly and ordering one that runs on power. This dolly was expensive and only worth the money if it worked for me more easily.Read full review

Great idea poorly executed

I was looking for a way to move my small pop-up travel trailer into and out of my garage and shop, and I decided this looked like a well-made trailer dolly with enough strength to do the job. It is supposed to handle 1000 lbs of tongue weight. My trailer tongue weight is 370 pounds so I felt it had enough strength to work well and never fail. The dolly arrived well packed and was easy to assemble. The two no-flat tires and rims are heavy enough to handle weight, but are not 16" in diameter as stated (the tires are really 15"). I put the dolly on the lowest setting and lifted my trailer easily with it. I could move the trailer freely and very accurately on the flat concrete slab of my shop. I decided to pull the trailer out onto the blacktop driveway and then try backing it back in. It moved out easily (very slightly downhill grade- only a few inches in 20 feet). When I went to push the trailer back into the shop, the rear caster wheel bracket immediately bent to the side. I was flabbergasted that it bent that easily. Pushing very hard, I finally got the trailer back into the shop, but I had to work very hard to do it and the caster wheel bracket was bent far enough out of shape to be usable. Very disappointing. I am 6'2" tall and strong it took all I had to get it back up the slight grade and into the shop. It would have been easier with 2 people, but truthfully with one person it was no easier than simply using the trailer jack wheel that was hard to use and led me to wanting something easier in the first place. t

I rate this dolly as unsatisfactory because the caster wheel assembly is much to lightly built to handle any tongue weight over perhaps 150 pounds. Its just not well engineered. The metal is too light and there is not enough bracing to keep it from folding. Additionally, the vertical structure that holds the ball is just too high. If fact, its ridiculously high. The internal square channel iron needs to be cut off 4" or more (to reduce the height and potential drag on the ground at the lowest settings), and the outside square channel could be cut off 3-4 inches too. I just can't imagine what they are thinking building it this way. It just makes no sense. Cutting off the vertical ball tower will still see the dolly being useful for all trailers towed by a 1 ton pickup. Also, if the dolly ball height is more like the height of the trailer yoke, the trailer will pull or push more easily as the force goes in a straight line from the dolly handle through the trailer frame. Its just simple physics. Finally, the caster wheel has a zerk (grease) fitting on the rotation mechanism that allows the wheel to pivot when turning. Unfortunately the manufacturer uses an odd size fitting that is much smaller than a standard automotive zerk. Therefore I can't grease the joint without buying a new head for my grease gun. A total unnecessary pain in the rear.

This dolly has potential to be really good, but it is designed and built much too tall and the caster wheel assembly is just too light to handle anything but minimal tongue weight. Weird size zerk fitting. I'd avoid it until they make these changes.

The seller did work with me to replace the bent pieces described above, but I will have to do some welded reinforcement to avoid what happened in the first place. If you can weld a support piece on the caster wheel bracket, and you can replace the zerk fitting with a standard size, then its probably an OK purchase.

Tow Tuff 1000 Lb trailer dolly

I like the thing, used it and the long handle part bent when picking up my trailer, maybe to much weight for it, so I took the long handle off and replaced it with solid stock steel, it had square tubing. Anyway I can now move mountains !Read full review

TYrailer Dolly makes life easier

Finally broke down and bought a trailer dolly after many years of moving trailers by "manpower" or by multiple backup attempts. I have 3 trailers, a light weight one for hauling items to dog shows, a BigTex 16 foot trailer for hauling dirt bikes and an enclosed 12 foot trailer for hauling items that need protection from the elements on our desert trips. The trailer dolly makes moving the trailers around very, very easy and you can get the trailer into very tight spaces quickly. The quality of the dolly is very good, it was easy to assemble and the solid tires mean your will never have flat tires. Buy one and make your life much easier.Read full review

A real back saver

Works awesome, so much easier to maneuver my 2 axle trailer around. I like the fact that the height is adjustable, so I can get the front axle off the ground, which makes it even easier to maneuver the trailer. The three wheel design aids in stability. The dolly seems well made and was a cinch to put together. The empty weight of my trailer is 1200 LBS. and this works very well.Read full review

Does the job!

Other than being a little on the heavy side, this trailer dolly is perfect. We bought a cheaper one at Harbor Freight and it doesn't even compare!

Excellent for repositioning of heavy trailer

This was very easy to assemble. However it did not have lock washers so I purchased them so that the bolts/nuts would not work themselves loose over time. Easy to follow instructions and really gets the job done.Read full review

Tow Tuff 1000

Makes a huge difference to be able to move the trailer a short distance without having to hook up to the truck, well worth the cost even if i would only use it a few times a year.
