Work Horse Printer

I have been using this model 1200 printer for several years. It has an old school parallel printer interface or USB port for operation. HP has abandoned support for the 1200 (works on Windows XP, but no software driver for later versions), Not sure why, but I suppose to sell more expensive model printers and cartridges. The printer itself is built pretty good when compared to newer models. The old one turned out over 78K sheets of paper before issues started with failed paper feeding or jams.Read full review

Oldie but goodie!

These printers are workhorses. One of the things I like best about them is that they use black toner, only. The later generation of color printers will print in black, but they draw from all the color cartridges at the same time so you're using all four cartridges up at the same rate. Much more expensive to be using up color cartridges. If you find one with a low number of copies that hasn't been abused, you'll be very happy with this printer.Read full review

HP 1200 LaserJet: great workhorse, economical compared to new-generation laserjets

The HP 1200 is one of the last of the older generation HP LaserJet printers. The 1200 is a non-commercial but well-made medium duty printer which can yield several thousand pages on a single toner cartridge. The new generation laserjet printers are very cheap to buy, but you will pay dearly for toner cartridges that print far fewer pages than the 1200 and other earlier laserjet printers. So you "pays your money and you takes your chances." Me, I'll gamble on a refurbished old-generation LJ rather than buy into the new cheap printer/expensive toner option. My recommendations: If you occasionally need to print black & white documents, don't want to shell out a lot of dough for the crisp sharpness of a laserjet printer, then perhaps buying a new-generation laserjet is right for you. On the other hand, if you need to print several thousand pages per year, and don't object to buying a used or refurbished laserjet printer, then an HP 1200 or similar will serve you well for many many years. I have had my original HP 1200 in continuous use since 2005 (bought new in that year for $350). Page count is around 35,000 and it is on its 4th toner cart. The HP 1200 for which I am writing this review has a page count of around 75,000, and it prints perfect copy with a new toner cartridge (which was not supplied with the refurbished printer) which I bought from HP online for $89.Read full review

A CRISIS

I was in a crisis as I keep books for three small non-profit organizations plus my own. I still use a Windows 95se computer and a Dos financial program (First Choice). There has never been a reason to upgrade because all the software/hardware works perfectly for my needs. A year ago I purchased a refurbished HP 1200 printer just in case the old one went out. I never opened the box. Well the other day the printer went out and when I opened up the box for my backup printer it had been dropped and crushed the case. I WENT ON EBAY AND FOUND THIS PRINTER AND THIS COMPANY'S SERVICE WAS VERY PROMPT. I HOOKED IT UP AND NO DRIVERS OR ANYTHING ELSE NEEDED ATTENTION--IT WORKED IMMEDIATELY! MANY, MANY THANKS TO THIS VENDOR AND EBAY!
I WILL BE BUYING ANOTHER BACK UP PRINTER FROM THIS SAME VENDOR SHORTLY!!!

Very good value.

While there was some surface discoloration, which was shown on the listing photos, the unit started right up and worked just fine from the beginning. Print quality was just fine, and I was able to merely replace my old HP 1200 by plugging it in.Read full review

HP 1200 Oldie But Goodie

I was replacing my HP 1200 that bit the dust after decades of great service, so I already had the paper input (not output) tray from my old printer. It was a perfect fit. The refurbished printer works well, and came with a toner cartridge. Have been able to set it up to run with Windows 7 operating on one PC, but have had more difficulty getting drivers to work with another PC running Windows 10--not the fault of the printer. The printer prints better than some newer HP LaserJets. I know, because I tried to upgrade several years ago and had to return the new HP printer because of poor print quality. Am now a very satisfied customer with the "old" unit.Read full review

HP 1200 laser Jet

These 1200 laser jets have been around for several years and they are rock solid. They just keep printing away and all you need to do is throw in another black cartridge every now and then. I have relatively new HP color printers in both my main floor study and basement office along with a 1200 in each location. The 1200's do all the non color work and perform great ! I can't say enough good things about this printerRead full review
