Motorcraft Heater Blower Motor - Part Number MM-892
---A direct replacement for my Ford Taurus (1996-2007).
---The plastic Blower Motor Housing of the original, incorporates a cooling passage, which takes cool outside air and puts it around the motor itself (for my application). Without the correct cooling passage, the life of the motor will be sacrificed.
---Most aftermarket motors only have holes in the mounting flange, as well and motor housing (for other applications), which requires the installer to also locate and purchase the molded hose, which is practically "unobtainium". Some have rubber plugs, capping off said holes.
---On my vehicle, accessing the Blower Motor was easy, which is not always the case. Premature failure means the vehicle will be in the shop again, if not simply more costly, experiencing down-time and loss of vehicle for the DIYer.
---The OEM HVAC Blower Motor is the wisest choice, even when cost is a factor. Research any other brand and verify it has the cooling passage. Don't go on the image alone, for most of the time the portrayed image, is simply a "stock image" and not the actual part.
---Why buy a part that isn't an exact replacement, when the aftermarket design is not a copy of the original design?
---Why purchase... an inferior part?
-FWIW/FYI,
---Disconnecting the power plug and placing an ohm meter across the two terminals for the motor (on the motor itself), will show if the motor is bad. There should be continuity through the motor winding and brushes. Placing the motor securely in a vice (the torque of the motor will often spin the motor right out of Your hand, and can cause injury), and hooking the terminals to 12v DC, will spin the fan... if good. If the motor is good, most likely it is something simple like a fuse, selector switch, relay (not too common), bad wire or the Blower Motor Resistor, which controls the voltage for various fan speeds. If the fan does not operate on all speeds, most likely it is the resistor or selector switch.Read full review
