Lightweigt, compact and pitches fast.

PROS: lightweight, compact and pitches fast. Camouflage seems to blend in with any natural background. Even in an open filed, from a distance of about 100m it looks just like a rock or a stone. Inner layer is almost 100% mesh so no issues with condensation on that layer. The mesh is fine enough to keep any insects out. There is room for a 60L backpack between the inner and outer layers on both sides of the tent.
CONS: Not suitable for taller people. I'm 182cm (about 6 feet) tall and I barely fit in it comfortably. There is usually quite a lot of condensation forming on the inside of the outer shell so you either have to let it dry before packing or pack it wet. It is advertised by Highlander to come in a compression bag... FALSE! A compression bag means that after packing you can compress the bag to a smaller size using straps. In case of Highlander Blackthorn you just get a regular bag with no compression straps.
OVERALL: It is still likely to be the best one person tent under 100 pounds. Just don't buy it if you're a tall person.

Too small for a six footer

Too small for me at 6'. Only used it for one night...well tried to....It went up real easy and seemed decent enough quality for the cost. Camo pattern works well for wild camping. There is a bit of space between the fly and tent for boots. A wee bit more space for small items like phone knife etc above your head. Major problem with condensation though. I had the vents open and I still ended up with a wet sleeping bag. Maybe this wont be so bad in summer but horrendous in the cold. I sold the tent on to a smaller person with the above warnings. Is it waterproof no idea it was a dry night.... well it was outside. I won't be buying another. So if you are well under 6' plan to use it in the summer and maybe only an overnight. You just may be OK.Read full review...

Better than a basha

I bought mine a few years ago and it gets used on a fairly regular basis with Cadet weekends and Annual camp. The side space is plenty big enough for my boots and my daysack is my pillow. Wouldn't recommend using a full size roll mat as it's just a bit too big for the tent. Quick to pitch and has never let me down irrespective of the weather best money I've spent in a long time. Dissapointing

This tent is too small and tight for anyone aproaching 6 ft or more. Very claustrophobic
And I would be surprised if it made it through one night's heavy rain without seeping through. Not very steardy either.

Yes it's light weight granted . Also I paid £46 for it and then 5 mins later went down to £36 on same site ! I'm returning ...!

Good quality camping for bargain money

A good little one man tent for a bargain price. Less than £40. Ideal for short wild camping trips. Worth buying a pole repair kit too just in case. Mine is alright but other reviews have highlighted issues with the poles.Read full review...

packs small, pitches small

I selected "yes" to "is it waterproof" as there's no "don't know".

Like others say, it's very small. I'm 175cm and just fit, and if I lie on my back my toes touch the ceiling. But that's ok, I wanted a compact lightweight tent and that's what I got. Packs up really small and weighs 1500g.

Bargain.

Set up once for practice 9 months ago. Now, all plastics perished and broken. All supports cracked and split. Utter rubbish.

Decent tent and great for the price

It’s lightweight and as a result it is compact (if over 6ft will be a squeeze) but that’s what’s expected for backpacking and bikepacking - ideal for both. Has been up one rainy night so far and kept 100% dry inside. Read full review...
