Very good NVR

It’s a Hikvision 4K nvr so as a leading brand what can I say about it? I bought this one to change my Annke nvr for a better one. Annke has hikvision internals but that was an older/slower processor in it. I wanted to have a good fast nvr and this one can handle hikvision V4 nvr firmware (officially not, but I was able to install the new 4.40.010 without any problem) which has lots of new features. Nvr works flawlessly with it.
You should note that, this model has no physical camera inputs (Poe ports) so you have to connect your cameras to your LAN network and you have to add them manually in camera menu.
My existing system was built like this so it was the reasons to buy this cheaper model (same model with 8 Poe inputs is significantly more expensive), but this can be a benefit coz you do t need to lead all your camera cables to the unit to connect it (less cable, less holes, drilling etc).
I’m using the unit with different cameras (2 5mp Annke, 2 5mp herospeed, one 2mp no name ptz, one hikvision video doorbell) most of them are hikvision Oem or clone so they are supporting hik protocol, one Chinese ptz camera connects with onvif. Unfortunately this onvif cam has serious problems with compatibility but I have good quality streams from it but motion detection isn’t working.
So that all. I can recommend this unit coz it can handle 8 channels with 8mp cameras, remote view with Hik-Connect app (or Annke vision) remote playback is fluent and flawless, live view as well.
One thing you have to note! This model connects to the cameras using your lan network, so if you connect bigger cameras (5-8mp) and you planning 6-8 cams to use, you have to upgrade your lan network, coz if you using h264 compression you easily can use your 100 mbs network capacity on close at its maximum. Gigabit lan network strongly recommended (no matter you using h264 or h265)
This unit supports h265+ recording and playback so saving bandwidth (load )of your lan I’m strongly recommend to use cameras at least with h265 support.
One more thing. Maybe someone else run into the same problem. We have a really busy lan network in the house (x boxes, IPTV-s, smart TVs ,internet radio, at least 6 phones,one media server, and several PC and laptop, 4 IP telephone with several extensions and lines).
So I experienced very annoying lags and “sliding” on the camera streams (few cameras streams started to “late” 5-10 seconds or sometimes more,compared to others), and switch from sub stream to main stream (and opposite) was slow and makes few seconds of black screen.So finally I find the solution. In the camera menu(where u adding cameras to the system) I set transfer protocol from Auto to UDP at all cameras, which instantly solved the problem. Problem was existing on this recorder and on the previous Annke as well.

lightweight

not a bad bit of kit not suitable for me unfortunately I bought it to use with swann nhd 818 cameras it seems they are not compatible together so I gave it to my daughter who loves it also be aware if you need a hdd make sure the one you want has one I did not realise when delivered opened it and found no hdd so I had to buy two 2tb seperately and then fit them of if you dont need them no problem without hdd the nvr is lightweight hence the titleRead full review...

Cheap and Cheerful

This NVR comes in a sleep case. Straightforward, PoE ports at the back and a single USB connection at the front for backup purpose. SATA HDDs (up to two) go inside and one has to open about 9 screws.<br>
Setup is self explanatory and simple except the cameras... saying that, if one is using HIKVision ip cameras then it should be plug and play otherwise you need to configure the internal NIC range and set all the cameras' ip addresses within that range.

Then go to manual adding option and type in the ip addresses of your connected cameras.

Once cameras are okay just use a fixed ip address for NVR instead of DHCP and open 4 ports on your router according to network settings, setup HIK's DDNS (very easy) and voila...! you are online. IvMS4500 HD is a perfect app for your smart phone with adjustable video quality option to suit your network speeds on both ends.

Hikvision 8ch 4k NVR.

I like this recorder it has good many features such as, face detection and number plate recognition. Playback is what I would say the best quality picture I've had, and seen so far. High quality and proffesional product

In comparison to lower priced units this item stands out and makes CCTV monitoring and security systems a breeze.

Hikvision DS-7608NI-K2/8P

This one replaced my old Hikvision DS-7104NI-Q1/4P NVR - I can just say WOW what a difference in picture quality, PTZ function, and the most user friendly interface menu in almost every language, I am more than satisfied with this super NVR machine!

Newer, isn't always better.

As most Hikvision products go, its fair quality. Problems arise in technology as people try to improve it.
'If it aint broke, don't try and fix it'. Is a wise policy.
When you use a VGA, and an HDMI monitor together, you get a cloned output.
Well that was true with the K1 version, but Mr fixit decided to change that, and if you plug them both in to the K2, you get control on HDMI only.
To get a limited camera control on VGA, you have to pass control over.
This is why I suggest most smart technology is getting dumber.
So only 4 stars for this, I would have given 5 for the K1.Read full review...

Outstanding quality!

I bought this 4k UHD system to compliment my older 2mp system which I was happy with until I compared the quality of the 4k UHD cameras as opposed to the 2mp cameras.
The night vision on the 4k is absolutely outstanding in pitch black conditions, and any intruder has nowhere to hide from these bad boys with crystal clear, pin sharp pictures!
Being able to check my cameras on my smart phone app while at work or anywhere for that matter, gives me complete peace of mind when the house is empty.

Too noisy

Excellent but noisy fan .

Fan noise is too loud. I now need to move this away from control desk, where noise less loud. Pain since this involves more cabling. Otherwise, excellent product.
