The "Hondo" TV Series is not as compelling as the film but it's OK.

I love the film "Hondo" but the TV series was not nearly as compelling. It was interesting though and some of the episodes were fun to watch especially because it was never shown where I lived.

Another Good Series Cancelled too soon. Hondo was a TV adaption of the early 1950's John Wayne film.
The series was very good, but it did not find an audience in the mid-1960s.

Western TV Shows had been very popular since 1954, but by the mid-1960's this genre was starting to fade in popularity among viewers. Only Gunsmoke and Bonanza returned strong ratings around this time.
Hondo lasted 17 episodes. This DVD set is worth getting if you were a fan of it then or are interested in the genre now. Keep your price under $35.

Hondo's dog Sam was more entertaining for me than the old Lassie or Rin Tin T.V. I grew up with as a kid.
