A Must for Reloaders

To accurately check die setup during the reloading process a cartridge gauge is a must. Especially with semi auto cartridges a gauge should be used because of action differences. I have two Remington 742 30-06 rifles that, besides using small base dies need to have their cartridges checked for headspace. The gauge works perfectly for this process. It prevents the terrible click when a round didn't adequately chamber while aiming at a nice buck! It happened to me once! Check your cartridges. My problem was a factory load that had the bullet start pulling out of the case in the magazine after shooting at the range and not checking them before hunting!Read full review

Zero stars. Useless. Buy Wilson gauge instead.

Not very useful. The case neck stops at a ridge about 1/4 inch inside the gauge, and there is no indication where the shoulder is. Since 30-06 headspaces on the shoulder, the gauge should reference the shoulder and show how high or low the neck is relative to that. I searched Hornady website and there are no instructions on how they intend this to be used. Save your money and just buy the Wilson gauge. Zero stars.Read full review

The Hornady case length gauge is a must ...

The Hornady case length gauge is a must for any serious reloader. Stop guessing and just buy one for each caliber that you load for! It’s especially helpful for the old milsurp guns.

Precision check gauge that will tell no lies

The Hornady cartridge gauge for the 30-06 is indispensable if you are loading for an M1 Garand. After loading your cartridges, drop them in the check gauge. If they go in so the headstand is flush with the check gauge, your cartridge will work on the firing line, where it matters the most. If there is something oversized about your cartridges, you'll see where the check gauge won't let the cartridge go all the way to flush. Saves you a lot of frustration on the firing line when bad cartridge jams the action. Think of this check gauge as very inexpensive insurance!Read full review
