Cheap product but does a good job for the purpose its built for.
It does the job. Its a bit cheap and plasticy as you would expect from a hornby product. I had to remove a bit of plastic inside jamming the switch, not sure what use it had because it fitted into it somehow but works fine now without it. On a brighter note, it runs the locos smooth and well.Read full review

Lightweight and Basic
Bought to replace old 900 power controller. Controller appears to be well built but a bit flimsy, transformer is a standard piece of equipment and of good quality. The controller lacks the versatility and power of the 900 which had 2 levels of power. Control of the item on the track is adequate but not great. This item is ok for a beginner with a very small set up. I would suggest that it is slightly overpriced.

Fair price but....
Tidy unit, good quality, but lack of instructions major problem. direction switch only moves when powered down/off. stated as ideal for beginners, so info vital. cut out operates at least accidental short or overload, & stays off for ridiculously long spell/ or needs plug/adaptor removed as it seems to have cut-out too. This causes long periods of inability to operate when fault is corrected.Read full review

Hornby controller
The train controller is from a set with some some surface scratches but was tested by seller .
It works well and is easy to use by turning the front knob.
Direction of the train is directed by sliding an arrow bar , left or right.
Remember to return the knob to zero before changing direction.
If a train shorts the controller, it takes a few minutes to reset.

As it says on the tin
It is just as per description and has replaced my children's old controller, the only thing I did not take into account is the connector to the track ( I am not clued up on things like this), the old controller was an old version and had a different connector.
However that was easily sorted. So there is no issues on the product I bought. It was well packaged and arrived very quickly.Read full review

Easy to set up and use
I have bought it for my Grandson who lives in Kenya. I liked the safety feature which foes not allow him to change the trains direction with out first turning the control knob to zero.
The casing seems a little thin but I think they will mount it in a box to protect it.
Otherwise it is how I expectrf ot to be,Read full review

performs perfectly for my purposes
I needed a 16v ac transformer to power a smoke generator for photographing smoke swirls, this transformer and controller allows me to vary the smoke output, no train or track required. very pleased with them both.Read full review

Good for starting out.
I'm not an expert on controllers by any means, but I got one to test some locos before my Layout takes shape and yes it worked ok.
and yes I'd recommend it for newbies and Diddy sets.
But I will still be powering my Layout in the usual way.Read full review
