Hornit Db140 Cycle Horn Bike Bell 140 Decibels

It's a good very loud horn.

It's very good. Works very well. But my only gripe is it needs a different sound. One sound is too high pitch so some people don't hear it and the other sound is similar to a car alarm. So most people take no notice to it until you're right on top of them or they're under your wheels. It needs a third sound that catches attention. A step back from previous model

I had a Mark1 hlnit which, after several years, stopped working. This model had a solid, well designed clip-on attachment for the handlebar.
In the new model this has been replaced with a fairly flimsy rubber strap. Very likely to tear after some use. Not too impressed! Read full review

HORNIT 140DB

Well , first of all I doubt it’s 140db or you’d have bleeding eardrums , but it is ear piercingly loud when it is on the Siren Tone , The Low pitch Car Horn Sound is not so Loud.
Unless you Have Chunky Handle bars ,You’ll need to get a Bit creative as to fitting the Sounder as it will slide down with the Stretchy rubber loop it uses to fit.
I used an Empty Loo Roll cardboard , cut it to about an inch wrap it around you handle bars and use some black electrical tape to go around the cardboard .
The wire is a little long so again it’s down to ones own creativity . As per say for the button too.
But don’t take these as negatives , if you compare people’s reactions to a Bell vs the Hornit 140db , it is day and Night .
I found it annoying when nobody cared for a Bell , I now find it amusing how people scarper
And indeed drivers who may be oblivious to you the Bell has Zero effect. Well people certainly take notice of a siren .
As far as I’m concerned I have this to say.

IF YOU DONT HAVE ONE . THEN WHY NOT ?

High pitch horn sound no good

Battries last a long time cause I hardly use it. People ignore the horn because they do not recognise the high pitch sound. They think the sound is coming from a bird. Some people do not hear the horn because their wearing headphones. Save yor money, just buy a normal cycle bell.Read full review

Worth it for safety.

Just tried it and have to say I was sceptical about the claims of 140db.
I wasnt dissapointed. Its ridiculously loud. It has 2 modes. A single tone at 120db and the main horn at 140db. Be warned though, the main horn is more like a house alarm and not a traditional car horn.
It does claim to be IP44 rated so should survive heavy downpours. But I wouldnt submerge it to be safe.
I have no issues believing that this couldn't be heard even with headphones on.
You are provided with 2 AAA batteries which with moderate use should last 6-12 months. I used a pair of duracells for longer use.Read full review
