Does the job

I bought this because I have been collecting rainwater form the roof and needed a way to get it to the garden. In order to get it to run you need to fill the chamber and shake it to get all the air out before attaching the hose. I also found I need to lift it off the bottom of the barrel and do some further shaking to get it started. The float is a little annoying in that it is easily detached during filling and the float attachment keeps sliding up the frame. The pressure through a 30 m hose is OK but not spectacular. All in all, it's a lot easier than filling watering cans and using them to water the garden. Once I have finished watering I removed it from the barrell and store it in the shed.Read full review

great improvement on the earlier Hozeloch model

My previous Hozelock pump lasted over 10 years and the new model has an auto cut out to save the motor if the water level gets too low. I use the pump for auto watering system in my greenhouse

Hozelock Water Butt Pump, good points and tips

I have three water butts, one is in a slightly in accesable place, so the pump is useful for moving the water from one butt to another one with less water.
The pressure is adequate, not as good as mains pressure but is does.
Also, the base is flat with a small filter, if you water butt has sludge in the bottom, the filter will block up almost immedialtey. I put two house bricks in the bottom to lift the pump up out of the sludge.
Also, a word of caution, water butt water is not clean and can develop allsorts of bacteria etc, such as legionella, so do not use a hose spray attachment as this will cause the water to mist or areosol, which if breathed in could cause illmess. Read full review
