I wont say its easy to use, but rather not that difficult esp. if you read the simple instructions. However to get all the benefits from this unit would require some patience as the remote control could be more user friendly. The TV dongle did not pick up my Wi-Fi signal so had to use adaptor TP 600 link. The sound quality appears good but somehow was unrecognisable on two separate occasions after having installed unit for just a few weeks. Re-booting solved the problems, and I hope this problem is a one or two off. The lighting display on the actual unit is poor ( not bright and too small ) and cannot be adjusted. The recording plan needs some improvement as programs already recorded will still show to be recorded ( again?? ) if that program is repeated a few days later on the same channel. You will need two LNB connections if you wish to watch one program and record another at the same time, this is normal and not a fault but merely to advise potential buyers.Read full review

Humax Freesat.

It works well, right up until it needs updating, this however happens all to often. When it does it clears all the programmes you have set up to record. Also if the signal gets lost because of weather, you have to reset all your programmes again. I does do what is required of it, you just have to have your programmes to hand and keep checking it's recording what you want. I find it frustrating, perhaps if we lived nearer the aerial signal, we wouldn't have to keep reprogramming it.Read full review

The on demand feature like 'All 4' is great (much better than Sky's on demand service)
'Youtube' is also available.
Download the Freesat app for your phone or tablet allows you to have not only an extra remote control, but by registering a Freesat ID, you can control your recordings and set programs to record away from home.
No monthly subscription costs.
Can play media from a memory stick or hard drive with two USB ports being available.
One USB port is at the rear of the unit allowing a Hard drive to be discretely plugged in.
The other USB port is on the front of the unit allowing easy access if using a memory stick temporarily.

Cons
No WIFI, but a WIFI dongle is available.
Not all media is playable as some codecs are missing but by using a PC with conversion software, the media file can be converted to AVI.Read full review

Excellent bit of kit apart from slow start up procedure

I used to have a BT TV service and the warm up time on the box was super fast so this one taking about 30 seconds now seems slow. I am not quite as pleased with the way the EPG and channel selection works as I would have expected and occasionally it is laggy on making selections (which causes the screen to go blank for a second).

Light and easy to setup

My daughter bought this through my eBay account. It came well wrapped and in its original box, looked as new. Took it to my daughters house removed her basic free view box. Plugged it in and that was it found the channel and that was it. Great picture better than the one she had, seemed more crisp and clear. Daughter had read lots of reviews good and bad decided this was for her as she didn't want a monthly fee to pay, and she is as of now still happy with it. For me, a vast improvement on my Sky equipment, far less compulsion to subscribe, it's now consigned to a drawer pending passing on. Freesat gives me all the access I need/want and more.

Relatively easily to set up, simply connected the shotgun cable that was used to be connect to Sky, switch on and follow on screen Guide. Bought mine second hand and barely used in excellent condition.

Downloaded User instructions online, (If all else fails read the instructions). Have an a very good older Manhattan in a bedroom but this particular model gives multiple options. Just take your time getting to know the "Machine", you won't regret owning one I'm sure..
