Accurateish, basic build, missile assembly a nightmare!

Firstly, there aren't any other model kits of the Spectrum vehicles from "Captain Scaret and the Mysterons," so if you want to build one, you're stuck with the Imai. Overall, it's quite accurate in terms of contour (though the lack of seats makes it a bit weird when you look through the windows and see ... well, the floor of the model. There's a basic steering array which is quite fun to put together, and a couple of thin gloss red coats of enamel paint really bring up the shine (you can panel detail with 2b pencils or Berol thin-nib art paint), but like a lot of Japanese kits this has been engineered as a toy which fires missiles from behind the lights. Or would, in the springs didn't shatter at first go, and the instructions were clear on how these should be assembled. Despite that, I'm happy to have it. Missile array aside. it's a quick build and it looks okay on the shelf. The SPV, however, is another matter entirely ... Read full review
