Isopropyl alcohol /IPA

Its produced by different sources but its all similar..it evaporates if you leave it exposed to air..if you're working on circuit boards its a must have..especially older dirty boards..it cleans them without damage to components..use nylon brushes with this..you can use contact sprays but this does the job cheaper..this one I bought has less pungent odour than the one I used previously..fortunately..I found it leaves a residue on glass LCD screens..it removes sticky film residue but leaves smears..no problem..get spectacle wipes or spray from specsavers or major drug store chain..also for hard to reach areas like switches buy cotton buds or q tips and dip in IPA..specsRead full review

great for extracting capsium

bought it to make pepper spray which it done very well. Tried it to clean my wind screen,rubbish, cleaned the windscreen with a glass cleaner then cleaned about three times with the product and when the sun hit the windscreen complete smearing had to stop and wipe down with a bottle of screen wash.
It doe's have its uses but I have other products ie ECSP cleaning solvent, far superior for electrical work but I must say I dont have the confidence in other than preliminery rough cleaninjg prior to finishing.Read full review

Mmmm, alcohol...

Hard to say why this little bottle of Isopropyl Alcohol is so appealing. It is of diminutive yet useful size, but of course it's the contents that matter, and I am content with the contents. I bought it to clean the heads of an old reel-to-reel tape recorder and it worked very well, removing years of oxide build-up, as evidenced by the dark brown almost black cotton buds after I'd applied it.

I also used it to get 'stickiness' off the exterior of a couple of old camera lenses and it worked brilliantly for this, although it did take quite a bit of rubbing and a few applications. But the point is it was very effective in the end.

I still have plenty left. It's not as appealing as vodka, and not as flavoursome as gin (apparently) so I will likely keep it until I need to clean something else of a technical nature.

Great value 100% IPA (Iso propyl alcohol)

Buyers beware. IPA is often sold as 70% rubbing alcohol which contains 30% water and is less effective as a cleaning solvent.
This product is 100% IPA and is the best value on eBay.
It arrives quickly in a strong polythene bottle and is a great solvent for removing greasy marks as it does not attack plastics.
It is highly inflammable and should NOT be consumed as it is toxic. It should be used in a well ventilated area.Read full review

Really useful product

I originally bought this to use as a panel wipe for removing polish residue when detailing my car. I can firstly clean the area of grease, oil and previous products with this stuff and wipe down afterwards to get a genuine idea of the polishing without silicones or other masking agents from some products giving a false impresssion of the job done. It's very good at this, especially when undiluted it's 'on and gone in seconds'. However after using it for its intended purposes I have found it extremely useful to keep in my car kit for a host of other tasks. It is also great when diluted down to rubbing alcohol proportions of between 50-70%. It can be used as a solvent, thinner etc but I think this shines as a cleaner. As good in every way as panel wipe products sold by high end detailing brands at 5-10 times the price of this stuff. Delivered very quick and packaged very safe. I have since decanted this into smaller spray bottles so it's not so bulky in my boot bag. Will I buy again and recommend? Definitely!Read full review

A versatile product that has many uses around the home.

This product is very versatile, I have found. It can be used as a sticky stuff remover, I use it for nail polish remover, and just recently to remove vinyl wallpaper border adhesive. The border had been on for years, but the wallpaper was in good condition, it just needing a coat of emulsion to freshen it up. This stuff is like magic, it removed all the residue and left the wall ready to paint. It cleans up the excess paint from the woodwork and leaves it like new. I had the idea from a kitchen fitter who said it has 1001 uses, he was correct, it does. Isopropyl alcohol 99%

Kills bacteria and fungal spores.
Sterilises surfaces.
Clear when applied so doesn't stain and above all doesnt obstruct vision in clear containers or once applied.
Pours straight from the container as easily as water.
Wet like water, maybe wetter.
Dissolves permanent marker and some glues.
Damages some plastic.
Burns once ignited.
A gallon can be lifted with one hand and placed right up on the top shelf with nothing more than a step to reach up.
Came in a plastic container that it fit into perfectly despite the contents being larger than the hole provided.
Has a lid that screws on and off.
There's even a handle on the container that fingers fit through, enabling easy manoeuvring.
My only complaint is that the label says 99.9% but there's less than that now I have used some and it still says 99.9% so the fuel guage obviously doesn't work. useful cleaner

Isopropanol is a good switch cleaner and safe on many plastics so great for model railway and other uses. This is nominally 99% so stronger than most which is often 95% ww or less. It can be quite expensive, so good to find this at a reasonable price and in 1L bottles so you can use it for degreasing and removal of some printed decals etc with a cotton swab. As with all solvents this should be used in well ventilated room and care taken on skin contact/latex gloves etc if risk of this happening, Good delivery from the supplier and a fair price, so just thye thing to have on your shelf of service and modelling consumables.Read full review

Great Value Home Cleaner

Great for Makeup Artists to sanitise brushes and products

As a professional Makeup Artist I have to disinfect my brushes after each client. I also use this product to disinfect powder products (e.g. eyeshadows) or if I accidentally break a powder makeup product (e.g. bronzer) I mix it with alcohol until I get a thick paste and basically create a brand new one as the alcohol evaporates and it does not alter the original product qualities or colour.

Fantastic product - 1001 uses.
