When you're stripping back 60+ years of wall coverings in an old house, and you find yourself looking at the original paint, it's probably a good idea to check for lead before you go any further. I'm very glad I did, and also very glad I checked the mid-century bench seat I was planning to sand down and repaint. This little kit was simple to use on both horizontal and vertical surfaces, and gave a clear reading. I wasn't surprised about the wall paint containing lead due to the age of the building, but I'm very glad I checked the bench as well.
