HE wants to KILL the PRESIDENT~ EASTWOODS best~

PLOT: CLINT EASTWOOD shines as a veteran secret service agent~ who guarded Kennedy and now has a psycho who wants to kill THIS President but plays a game of cat and mouse via the phone with Clint~ excellent movie~

OUTSTANDING thriller~ Eastwood is a veteran secret service man who's past includes guarding Kennedy who still harbours regrets 30 years later~ John Malkovich is an assassin~ who is always one step ahead of the SECRET SERVICE but begins a "cat and mouse" game of stalking by phoning Eastwood who oddly enough the assassin "admires" ~ using cunning, high tech to make phone tracing difficult and a master of disguise, HE calls himself~ "BOOTH" is an EX CIA contact KILLER who is a "killing machine" with no conscience~ this moves along very nicely as BOOTH quickly advances his clever scheme to get close enough to finish off the President~ ADDED fun is the "interaction" between a lovely female secret service agent LILY (Rene Russo) is great~ EXCELLENT DIRECTION BY WOLFGANG PETERSON (DAS BOOT) and top writing and Casting~ moves along very fast~ TAG LINE: I KNOW THINGS ABOUT PEOPLE~ I GIVE IT 5 OUT OF 5~

Memorable Movie

What a outstanding story plot and a host of actors lead by Eastwood to capture a timeless moment in the tragic past of America. As a baby boomer the movie to me was close to home as it applies to what can happen "behind the scenes" during a tragedy such as the assassination of J.F.K. Read full review...

Highly recommend this film.

Great action-suspense movie with Clint Eastwood as an older Secret
Service agent who was in Dallas on November 22,1963 and carries
the guilt of losing the President on that day. Flash forward 30 years later and he is still a Secret Service agent protecting the current POTUS against a crazed would be assassin John Malkovich. Renee Russo
is great as a female Secret Service officer. Good acting by Clint Eastwood. John Malkovich will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Saddle up...hold on....

Such a good film, this is a replacement for a loaned-but-never-returned DVD.
I mean, start with Clint Eastwood, add Renee Russo, and stir in the ever-insane John Malcovitch..... recipe for a thrilling action adventure SUPREME!! Infuse the JFK assassination, sprinkle with Black Ops ....oh, MY.... hold on to your breeches, this is going to be a wild ride!
ENJOY!!!

A Must Have in dvd collection

Edge of your seat movies. Brings back memories from the '60s when Kennedy was shot. Meaningful, great acting, one of those you watch over and over. Has the Eastwood dry humor, which is delightful.

Great to My Clint library (#32)

As Clint ages, he matures. I appreciate that! Great work by Clint, Rene & John. Sad to see John Mahoney as he ends his career (RIP). At least he was not using his unnecessary care as he did in that long term TV sitcom.Read full review...

In the Line of Fire (DVD, 2001, Special Edition)

This smart, tautly directed thriller from Wolfgang Petersen is about the cat-and-mouse games between a Secret Service agent named Horrigan (Clint Eastwood) and the brilliant, psychopathic assassin (John Malkovich) who's itching to get the President in his cross hairs. The back-story--Horrigan is haunted by his inability to prevent John Kennedy's assassination (Eastwood is computer-generated into archival footage)--is more than a little hokey, but the plotting itself is smartly, even ingeniously, constructed. Petersen manages a viselike grip on the tension and Eastwood even gets to deliver an ever-more-timely lecture on the diminished nature of the office of President. Eastwood's as gruff and as infuriating to the by-the-book Powers That Be as ever, and Malkovich oozes delightful menace. Renee Russo capably costars as a colleague with whom Horrigan gets friendly.Read full review...
