Dated Morse

This series is now very dated in every way. The scriptwriting leave big chunks out of the story line of the books so you don't know what's happening. Despite his popularity John Thaw was a wooden and quite limited actor. Lewis is even more limited and acts like a 6th former on his first school play. We watched a few episodes and ditched the rest. Standards in every aspect of drama have risen a great deal since Morse was produced.

The Morse series originally written by Colin Dexter turned into one of the outstanding detective dramas of modern times.

With John Thaw in the lead role, he had to play a different character from the more rough and tumble Jack Regan from the Sweeney.

Dated compared to Endeavour

The product is very good value! Having watched the Endeavour Series, we then wanted to revisit Morse. This has meant that we did not rate the earlier episodes of Morse, but it gets better as the stories progress.
