Pretty decent!

Bought this to try out bike computers on the cheap.. wasn't expecting much TBH.
Actually I'm very impressed!
Quality is ok but I would not recommend for continued use in wet weather..but..an easy fix is to use silicone grease to waterproof the battery covers etc.
Very easy to set up due to the excellent instructions..in clear English!
Appears to be pretty accurate too!
I'm impressed with it and want be buying a more expensive version.. this does everything I was after.
Very easy to fit . Set up and use.

Very cheap and rather cheerful

For £6 (June 2018), my expectations of the SunDing 548C computer were not high and I was prepared for disappointment However, it is now on my bike and working well. There are a couple of points worth making, though.
1/ It didn't work out of the box. There was no communication between sender and head unit. I checked the voltage of the (12v) battery in the sender. It measured 1.3v. The button battery for the head unit is packed separately, but the sender battery was pre-installed and had run down. A silly decision by SunDing. Once I replaced the 12v battery, all was well.
2/ SunDing make a point about there being a ball bearing inside the head unit, which is designed to automatically trigger the 'sleeping' computer back into life when you start cycling. There is no rattle from a ball bearing in my computer and it certainly doesn't auto-start, meaning I have to remember to press a button when I start cycling. A pain.
3/ Like other wireless computers I've had in the past, it reacts badly if placed near a source of electromagnetic radiation such as a PC or mobile phone. The head unit display goes bananas and increments readings at a furious rate!

Reliable and easy to use.

A very economical alternative to GPS based systems although not giving so much data. Enough information to make a casual bike ride more enjoyable. I am using one of these bought 9 years ago on another bike. So economical I use mine with the GPS meter as backup. Easy to fit and simple to set up with clear instructions and detailed factors for all wheel sizes.

Does everything as claimed and good value.

Does what it claims and easily set up. Appears to be excellent value for money but only time will tell. A similar product from another ebayer only lasted 18 months (sender unit failed despite fitting new battery) whereas another wireless one from Lidl's lasted about 8 years. A good product that does the job, follow the instructions and it is easy to install, and so is setting up the computer if you are familiar with setting similar devices, otherwise it take a bit of time. there is a rattle in the computer from a motion ball which is a bit of a pain, its a good buy and excellent value for the money.Read full review...

Not performing as promised.

It doesn't do what it is supposed to do. I fastened it to my bicycle as told to do using the instruction sheet. I was meticulous with the positioning of all the parts and double checked everything. It would not change from Km/hour to miles per hour . The Km /hour was so erratic -the speed shown varied all the time. 3km one second 26km the next second The instruction sheet did not show me how to get the thing working properly. My friend also had a go at setting it up and he said there must be something wrong with it. It looks good and it is so disappointing that is not working properly.

Accuracy Wildly Out.

The computer was fairly easy to install, bar one hindrance, I will detail later in my review, and the instructions were well written but there ended the nice things to say about the device.

Although I had followed the instructions meticulously on entering details of my wheel and tyre size, the instrument wouldn't measure distance accurately at all.

I was fortunate in having a satnav device with me on the first run out, to correlate, or not, what the computer output was for the journey.

On a journey, the satnav gave as, 12.84 miles, accurate to within 3 yards, the bike computer read 13.485 miles or if you like, on a journey of true distance, just under 13 miles the bike computer had added just over another half mile. For me, in this day and age of quality, the result is far too much, inaccurate.

Back to the installation hindrance. Many bike spokes have 2 mm wheel spokes and the magnet that needs to be attached to the spokes to create a signal for the computer refused to fit onto my 3 mm spokes, normal size for my type of bike. I was able to simply to enlarge the hole in the magnet holder with a 3 mm drill but feel one should not have to modify a part to fit nowadays quite popular spoke sizes.

If you are happy with a nowhere accurate a piece of technology and have spokes of 2 mm or less, you may want to consider this product but not for me.

I do not recommend this product.
