Jackass - Number Two (DVD)

Dude, where's my ambulance? Johnny Knoxville and the gang risk life and limb to make us barf 'til we larf again in Jackass Number Two, a non-stop gag reel of gonzo stunts. Leeches suck eyeballs, sharks are tempted with human bait, and grown men clamber into rocket-propelled shopping trolleys as they fly across lakes. It's sick, irresponsible, juvenile and totally indefensible. But it's also chuffing hilarious. "Stoopid is as stoopid does," as that great philosopher Forrest Gump once said.

Some humourless critics described the first movie as "a disgusting, repulsive, grotesque spectacle" (although not us). Little has changed since Jackass: The Movie, except for a bigger budget (check out the Busby Berkeley musical numbers) and an increasingly dangerous list of ideas. There's anaconda wrestling in ball-pits, rampaging bulls, the drinking of horse semen and a guy who lures a hungry snake with his manhood hidden inside a mouse puppet.

"SERIOUS INJURY'S NEVER FAR AWAY"

Watching (wincing), you begin to understand the origins of the term 'slap-stick'. True, Laurel and Hardy were never quite like this, but Jackass is the Youtube generation's answer to silent comedy. At times, it's almost like watching the casual violence of a Looney Tunes cartoon: Knoxville almost dies after strapping himself to the kind of giant rocket favoured by Wile E Coyote. Serious injury is never far away and it seems only a matter of time until one of these guys dies or ends up paraplegic (while swimming with sharks Steve-O very nearly becomes the new Steve Irwin). Remember kids, don't try this at home. Or anywhere else for that matter.

BUT IT.. ITS UNMISSABLE!!!

Great film

Like its predecessor, undoubtedly--in relation to its budget--one of the most profitable studio films in history, JACKASS: NUMBER TWO is merely a series of wince-inducing stunts. These often result in injury--filmed with a handheld camcorder. Highlights this time around include a four-person seesaw in the middle of a bull ring; Knoxville, Pontius, and Margera being blasted with riot control pellets; fellow skate video alumnus Spike Jonze in elderly-woman makeup losing his clothing in public; and Knoxville blasting off on the outside of a rocket. And that's just for starters. NUMBER TWO gets its twisted, sadistic kicks out of the 'actors' sustaining puncture wounds and other injuries to their persons, and more male nudity than one normally sees in a mainstream film (including a surplus of scarred and bruised bottoms). JACKASS: NUMBER TWO is bookended by two beautifully filmed sequences--first the gang does a jaw-dropping running of the bulls down a suburban street. Then (and nothing is being spoiled here) the film concludes with an elaborate Busby Berkely musical number. These sequences up the ante a little bit from the first instalment, and though JACKASS TWO certainly isn't for everyone, it remains the best and safest way to see a guy blasted into a lake in a rocket-fuelled wheelchair.Read full review...

Just gets better...

They said it was never going to happen. Jackass the series ended, and after a 'movie' containing some of the more 'dangerous' stunts they never produced for the show, it heralded the end of Jackass. The team split off and did other things, most of them going on the do tv show spin offs or try their hands at making movies.

But then something special happened. They came back, with a whole host of new ideas and bigger stunts to perform. Jackass Number Two is bigger, funnier, we thought they'd done it all but they proved us wrong.

Jackass itself isn't for everyone. If your not into the stunts you may have glimpses of in the many re-runs of the show on various channels, then please, don't think you're prepared for either of the Jackass movies. The second contains some stunts even I, a viewer whose seen most of the seasons and the first movie and know what these guys can produce, had to fast forward through a few of the sequences.

Some of the stunts are downright scary, terrifying, you wonder where they get the 'balls' to go through with some of them. But it's also hilarious, from the set up to the execution, even more so watching the players reactions. It may seem strange to laugh at such 'suffering' on occasion, but remember these men put themselves willingly through these experiences, no-one is forced to take part in the stunts they perform.

Some of funniest stunts are the simple ones. Like the punch glove hidden in the wall and catching the guys un-awares as they read a poster on the wall. And the set up on Ehren McGhehey is hilarious to actual see being set up never mind when it's executed with perfection. The opening scene, where we see them being chased by a herd of bulls sets up the hype for what's to come and the rest of the stunts don't disappoint. Personally, I prefer the opening of the first movie, with the giant trolley dash down the hill, but Number Two seems to come along with a much slicker attitude than the first movie. It's as if the Jackassers are telling us that they are vetrans to the game and are ready to take it up to the next level.

If you loved the show, and the first movie and were yearning for more then Jackass Number Two is the perfect remedy for the feeling. You'll be left howling with laughter, and wanting to see the seasons and first movie all over again. Jackass Number Two doesn't disappoint and it's really good to see the cast brought together again.

JACKASS-NUMBER TWO (DVD)

for any fan of the hit series Jackass, then this Dvd is a must!!! Having watched the previous dvds in this series and the first movie, I was sure that the boys would not be able to think up new material, let alone shock and make me laugh as much as I have previously done...but the lads dont disappoint, and this dvd certainly lives up to the same "quality" as all the others! If you have never seen jackass before then be prepared. With their insane stunts, wacky ideas and painful practical jokes, this dvd will leave you howling with laughter and grimacing along with their pain. Be warned though, this is not for the faint hearted. Certain scenes involve unhealthy uses of bodily matters that can leave the toughest of viewer feeling queasy and disgusted. (I chose to fast forward these clips) but putting that aside, this is such a funny dvd. One to be watched with the lads and a few beers or just as a pick me up! and still hilariouds when you have watched it several times over. These boys really are crazy, and you will be amazed at the stunts they attempt,..and the injuries they suffer. How none of them are dead yet is beyond me!! I definately think jackass is an acquired taste, but if it does tickle your fancy, this is one dvd that you need to add to your collection!!Read full review...

A most awesome product

A good laugh, love to see a good few pranks.
Ejoyed the film thurilly,if you are in to pranks and stunts then definally watch the film. If not in to pranks and stunts then don't watch the film.

by

Not as good as the first film

More stunts and japes from the jackass crew. While they claim that is bigger and better than the first long format collaboration, I found it lacked some of the freshness and originality of the previous film. Perhaps all the copycat clones that have sprung up in the intervening years have meant they tried to out-do and out-shock to remain the stunt kings, but it lacks some of the cleverness and wit.

A good laugh and one fans will love. I don't think we need a jackass 3
