A great man

Have bought several 'audience with' shows. This is one of the best. An amazing man and wonderful audience. Good quality and price. Would recommend.

Kenneth Williams-Alive and well.

Having been aware of Kenneth Willimas as we all were from the Carry On series and also my readings of the Joe Orton biography I was certainly curious about his own life. I was able to get a copy of his diaries which were so detailed it is mind bending reading. i purchased thsi DVD to see how he would reveal his own story to others. Even if the audience seemed to be full of people from the industry, it was quite frank and in depth of his life.Read full review...

An excellent DVD. Ken at his best. Non stop anecdotes for over an hour. Glad I bought it. Thank you.

Old style performer with an array of different characters - a charming man.

He is just brilliant to watch - intelligent, insightful, enigmatic and with an unexpected warmth. Surprisingly open about his experiences in show-business and with well-rehearsed characters this was about an hour long and I was captivated throughout.Read full review...

Essential for all K W fans

Worth buying as a memento of a much-loved comedian. As a raconteur he was superb, as those of you who remember the International Cabaret series will agree, and there are some very funny stories inimitably told on this DVD.Read full review...

The great comedy 'Actor'

It was under the heading, of 'gay interest'. Described as being very 'camp' by others. If you want to love him then be it for what he was, ie a very fine actor at home in all classics, a great comedian and comedy actor, a brilliant all round entertainer. All these facets which made up a very complicated man, are present in this show. I have no gay interest in Kenneth Williams, but he turns me on. Ever since his first appearence on radio, I have followed his comedy through Hancock, Round the Horne (who could forget 'ramblin'sid' and of course in all the 'carry on films'.
I was lucky enough to be working at the Talk of the Town when this great man hosted one of the finest variety shows from there, and fortunate to have met him on several occasions. He was a real gentleman, and a great star. Watch this film, you will be impressed with all aspects of his true talent, which brim's over, but does not overwhelm.

An Outstanding Piece of Gay History

Sometimes "An Audience with..." really works and sometimes they fall flat on their faces. I am pleased to say "An Audience with Kenneth Williams" does not disappoint.

I have seen this performance repeated many times on Satellite TV and on Youtube. Williams takes you on a wonderful journey from his early days in CSEU through the "Carry On..." years and beyond. Features hilarious impersonations of Noel Coward, Dame Edith Evans, Felix Aylmer and Mabel Constanduros (even if you don't know who they are).

As the product goes it is much the same as any other. I don't think they've managed to find any lost outtakes or extra footage from the bar afterwards. So I guess all versions of this DVD the same. Take your pick of the different covers.

If you like this DVD look for "The Complete Acid Drops" by Kenneth Williams, avoid "Fantabulosa" with Michael Sheen like the plague.
