A Ken Loach Classic.

A Ken Loach film, that has a great story of the lead character, Casper ( David Bradley) in his quest to train a kestrel for flight, and return. Plenty of engaging characters. Starring: Colin Welland, Brian Glover, Lynn Perrie, and David Bradley. A good quality refurbished cd, with excellent playback. Recommended.Read full review

Best British film of the last 50yrs

An excellent British film which is true to life of a lower class family living on a council estate in 1970s Britain. I must have watched this film a dozen times at least! Based on the book, ‘A Kestrel for a knave’ this film has everything. Humour, sadness, poverty and hardship. If you have never seen this film before your in for a real treat. Watch it and you’ll never ever forget it. An all time classic!Read full review

Heart warming and funny

I saw this film at school over 30 years ago....I loved it then and after watching again on dvd I can appreciate how brilluant the kid actors were in it. I've bought this for my son who loves birds of prey. He hasn't watched it yet but hope he loves it as much as his mum.Read full review

A lovely film not to be missed a historical glance of a time now gone.

A well written story of life in Barnsley a declining coal-mining town. Glimpses of Barnsley in the 1970s and life of a boy’s treatment by other children, family and teachers, and, (nothing changes) how it affects him mentally and physically. One teacher realises the lad is not as he seems and takes an interest in him and helps him to be aware of his inner potential. A lovely film .Read full review

A must for children.

This dvd is brilliant, I recommend for children to watch. It shows a time past but a love that emerges from poverty and ignorance. It should be shown in schools for children to see and discuss.
