Where "Scarface" left off... "King of New York" begins.
Drug lord Frank White (Chrstiopher Walken) is released from Sing-Sing prison after serving a number of years for drug trafficking. He is reunited with his former gang, led by the murderous Jimmy Jump (Laurence Fishburne), as well as his personal female bodyguards Raye (Theresa Randle) and Melanie (Carrie Ngyen), and his lover/legal annalist Jennifer (Janet Julien). After seeing his old neighborhood more dilapidated and depressing than ever, Frank decides to do good by eliminating his competitors whom filled the void left by his incarceration, then steal their money and drugs to finance a new South Bronx hospital for the needy. But Frank's past won't let go of him when a group of overzealous cops, led by corrupt detective Roy Bishop (Victor Argo), frustrated at the lack of clues to nail Frank on for the current street killings, decide to take matters into their own hands.Read full review...

King of New York
One of my favourite films of this genre with a stellar cast. A dark and fast moving cop/gangster thriller with a mesmerising performance by Christopher Walken at his satanic, angelic best. Unforgettable scenes, great lines and a supporting cast including Laurence Fishburne, David Caruso, Wesley Snipes and Steve Buscemi.Read full review...
Walken is the King of New York
The film has a very basic plot, little character development and no real back story, however it all somehow works very well.
The main reason is the excellent acting. Walken always plays villains so well and he's his usual nasty self.
Fishborne & snips pop up in early roles and perform well.
If you like your gangster films mean and moody then this is for you.Read full review...
the film was a let down
it was all over the place. there were gunfight scenes that were totally unnecessary. it was more violence than actually setting up a dialogue and the music in film was horrible. the story was not really acted out the way it shud have been. i first heard about framk white thruogh notorious b.i.g. it could be that i had my expectations were too high. no one elses fault but mine.Read full review...
