Nice Machine

I struggled whether to rate it a 5 or a 4, and chose 4 only because of the weight. It is heavy, but the drive mechanism makes the weight disappear when you're vacuuming in traditional fashion. When you move the machine... the weight is definitely there. The weight is a double-edged sword, so to speak, as the thing is so substantial it will last forever and can double as a main battle tank or battering ram. The two speed motor is nice, but I had to chuckle because when you use the lower speed, the main light also dims - Kirby probably could have left the light on full bright when the motor is set to a lower speed. The attachments are plentiful and therefore take up a fair bit of space. Overall, it's a Kirby, and is the standard all others are measured by. Kirby G7D Upright Vacuum

Excellent used product that functions like new. It has a wide variety of attachments that I dont think I'll ever use. Also includes a carpet shampoo set, but have not tried it yet. I love the rugged construction. Looks and feels like it will last a lifetime. It is powerful enough to suck the carpet's surface up to the vacuum's intake/beater opening. I got down on the floor while somesone else pushed and pulled the vacuum back and forth, and I was amazed at the suction power. I suppose it is pulling years worth of particles trapped at the base of the fibers up and out of the carpet since air can actually flow through the carpet's mat. The assisted drive is the most responsive I've ever felt. As you reverse directions, it seemingly anticipates your action, making it the lightest vacuum I know of. It is nearly effortless. Well done, Kirby! Picking it up is quite heavy, though. It's a pain to carry up and down stairs. The handle does have a hand grip opening built into it. Also, to use the long hose to clean the stairs requires the beater head assembly to be removed (and the included rubber drive belt), and the hose assembly to be attached in its place. Doesn't sound like much to describe, but it is inconvenient to do this every week, and then to put it back together like normal. The vacuum as a whole can be reduced in size considerably by removing the long handle and replacing it with a stubby handle. This is useful for stairs. But it's too heavy of a machine for my wife to use it like this, and I don't care for the cumbersome feel either. So, I've kept our old upright Hoover vacuum in the downstairs closet, with its long hose attached to it, just for the stairs.

I love this Kirby

This is a beautiful vacuum and runs like nothing I have ever had before. I had 3 back surgeries and this last one left me with rods and screws in my back and with this Kirby you can push it with 1 finger. Great deal bcuz you pay a lot of money for a " Shark " and " Dirt Devil " and they don't work as good as a Kirby. I am very happy with my purchase.Read full review

Wonderful

I have always bought cheap vacuums in the past, but we destroy them quickly. So I decided enough was enough. I called my friend who has a lot of children like us and asked her what she has. She directed me to this vacuum. It vacuums better than any I have owned before. I am very pleased with it. The only drawback so far is having to attach the hose when I want to use it, rather than it already being ready. But if it lasts as long as my friend's has, then that is only a tiny detail.
