A very good purchase, a compelling read.
It is the first one in the series where his 'career' begins. He was press ganged. The research is excellent, especially where the handling of the ship is concerned. It is a very good story, as are they all so far. Currently reading the sixth book in the series. A very good purchase.Read full review

A Good Sea Story
I love stories of the sea and this one is realistic. Gets a bit boring sometimes in descriptions of sea conditions but perhaps that's necessary to give the flavour of the sailor's life. Characters are well drawn and realistic. I intend to buy the next book in the series.Read full review
