the voltage detector does what it made to do, tells you what side of 3 core cable the live wire is, good for finding a broken cable, but it would have been much better if the detector could detect voltage in the plaster on the wall where the cable runs, it doesn,t detect the live wire in a wall socket when put into the live side of the socket....but apart from those 2 things , for the price it does what it say,s on the tin....a more expensive one would do the things i,ve mentioned...Read full review

Very handy tool for checking whether for a wire/cable or connection is live. But where there are wires or terminals close together, a traditional testing screwdriver may also be needed to check which are live and which not. Also, it can respond to induced voltage, say from a disconnected earth: this could be helpful or confusing depending on circumstances.Read full review
