Good quality DVD and HDD recorder

This is a top quality recorder, which allows you to record TV and radio programs to HDD. You can also record directly to DVD, or copy stuff from the HDD to the DVD and even vice-versa. There are lots of other input options, and the output to the TV can be either via SCART or HDMI (I much prefer the latter, but the former is there if you need it.) This recorder is the fourth one the same that I have owned. I suppose that being a reconditioned machine they have a shorter life than a brand new machine. Slow and unreliable responses to the remote control.

I bought this so that I could record programmes in advance on Freeview. We already have a recorder on a Freesat system, but Freesat only broadcasts Now and Next not the full guide. A second consideration is to watch dvd's without using a separate player.

The machine has maddening bad habits. In the user guide it mentions that 'sometimes' you need to hold the remote power button for several seconds for it respond. For 'sometimes' read 'usually'. Quite often this doesn't work either and you have to unplug the system and replug. At best it takes some seconds to respond to its remote.

On the plus side, it was simple to set up the system and the guide is easy to follow. It is also very compact and useful in having a DVD player/recorder attached.Read full review...

First Class Refurbishment

I had had a similar unit for eight years which had proved reliable and excellent. It gave up the ghost and I had to replace it. I bought a new Panasonic DVD recorder which they have adapted to protect media organisations from copyright infringement-it was a dogs dinner. I reluctantly bought a refurbished unit from MJPanansonic as LG no longer manufacture the unit. The standard of refurbishment was first class-both in appearance and performance- it was as if it was brand new.

even though it was the same as my last, so had no problems setting up. I found the remote temperamental sometimes it works or doesn’t. When it does I like it

I have had this make and model before and am very happy with it. Plays DVDs .

Can record on to its hard drive.

Can edit your programs and then record on to blank Discs to keep.
